Aesquire, there's nothing special about owning a handgun in Ohio. Heck, an 80% 1911 receiver or AR is easy enough to finish. In Ohio at least, you don't need to do any special registrations either. The only thing I believe Class III manufacturing is a bit different.

On the AR pistol... It's completely legal in Ohio!

I've had one. The police officers at the range loved it and ended up building their own.

I've got a few stripped lowers and the ffl paperwork was filled out appropriately, so that's not an issue.

I've just been looking for the best deal on parts since I haven't done a roll your own deal in 4-5 years

Lowers are sold as an other-receiver. What it becomes is up to you. If it is assembled as a pistol first, it can be made as rifle later. If it is assembled as a rifle first it must stay a rifle.

Palmetto State Armory has some good sales on occasion, if you catch stuff on their revolving sales. I've used M&A parts, J&T Distributing, Model 1 Sales, Surplus Ammo, and Weapon Outfitters for various parts and Rainer Arms always has a very wide selection.

Midway USA is generally good for accessories and Brownells is great for tools. I've sourced one AR-15 upper and a 1911 frame from them.

James, Look on Armslist.com under Ohio. Sometimes there is a deal to be found on parts or ammo there. I look under Indiana.

Those anti civil rights people would ban you talking about guns if they could. They would ban you complaining about the government, if their candidate had won.

After all, they ban pictures of guns, pop tarts chewed into a vaguely gun shape, and holding your hand in a way that they think might look like a gun.

While some of them make movies where they pretend to kill many people with guns.

Different rules for them than you.

They can have armed guards, and live behind walls and gates to keep out the rabble. You? You are the rabble.

No...we are supposed to have open borders and free everything, while they live behind safe walls, gates, and armed guardsso they can hoard their shit and keep it away from everyone they're insisting can come into our country.

If you'd just respectfully clean their homes and tend their lawns for less than minimum wage, and vote for their choices of politicians, they wouldn't need to import those "other" folk. Make sure you tip your hat to them, and bow a little.

And if you'd do that pesky programming and system analysis for less than minimum wage, then they wouldn't have to be scared of spicy food either.

So, basically, it's all your fault for pretending to be their equals.

Socialists & gun control.

Hitler allowed French collaboration forces to have 9 rounds in a handgun. Emperor Cuomo allows his subjects only 7.

Millions of guns have gone underground, just like Nazi occupied France.

On rational scales, current NY leaders are worse than Hitler. It's Sure they deliberately ignore the history of their ideology. Sure, they haven't opened death camps, but Cuomo hasn't been in office as long as the Socialists, yet. It was Year Nine before the Nazis started large scale gas chambers and slave labor. So, by the 2020 election we can expect re-education camps and public executions of those who point out voter fraud and bribe taking.

At this moment in American History, I'm not even sure where the sarcasm becomes whistling in the dark.

Certainly it's silly to suggest Governor Cuomo will establish concentration camps for the people who don't agree with him, and didn't move away when he told those who think different to leave His State, because We Were Not Welcome.

https://nypost.com/2014/01/18/gov-cuomo-to-conserv atives-leave-ny/

And Hillary didn't get elected, so SHE isn't going to establish concentration camps.

And Infowars notwithstanding, I'm not certain we have secret facilities already set up waiting for the Socialists to demand gold stars and train trips.

Then again, I would have said the same in Germany in the 1920's, trusting my fellow man to stop any such insanity.

But I'm a history buff in the 21st century, and in the time since Hitler was giving speeches in beer halls, the Socialists have murdered hundreds of millions of people, burned, gassed, starved & buried alive folk in everything from the highly organized industrial camps of Nazi Germany, to the slave labor prisons of the Soviets, to the killing fields of Pol Pot.

Thus my reaction to the next Krystallnacht won't be the same as a nice Jew from Zurich.

It would seem that simply abandoning the liberal-progressive socialistic bastions to their own devices would be the best for freer states...but unfortunately people often flock to those freer states pursuing the same political ideologies they left. The liberal exodus is real.

The kids gun is assembled and test fired. It works with steel cased TulAmmo, so it should work with most anything. I've gotta finish paying for the sights and optic and it'll pretty much be done.

Another gun to feed.

Proves the argument for armed citizens though.

Cops are here to protect, absolutely. Gun grabbers are right about that.

Cops aren't always right there, in time to stop tragedy. That's where the gun grabber argument falls apart.

When the right citizen (and if we ever allow true 2A rights, there will be MORE "right citizens") is present, they can stop it RIGHT NOW. Without having to wait for whatever the police response time is.

Problem solved.

Not a slight against the police, I love the boys and girls in blue, but fact is...they're not omnipresent. Can't be. Just not enough of them compared to society at large population numbers.

You probably won't find it on many other outlets, because permit holders never stop mass shootings. That kind of thing is a myth propagated by the NRA and other militant racist organizations.

'Course, this wasn't, by definition, a mass shooting. No one died. He was stopped before he could kill anyone. It's these kind of twisted statistics the gun grabbers cite when they say that an armed citizenry does not stop mass shootings. They neglect the statistics that describe the actions of armed citizens who prevent mass shootings.}

I used the butt of an m79 to take a dent out of the side of a Chevy pickup bed. Strong little gun. It was my favorite thing to shoot.

Gun facts according to anti gunners:

• Guns are only made to kill people
• Shootings only happen because of lax gun laws
• A good guy with a gun is a myth
• Nobody should own an assault weapon
• The 2nd Amendment protects hunting with muskets
• The NRA is a racist terrorist organization that profits from murder
• Something, something...toxic masculinity

California's Unsafe Handgun Act requires that "These include a “chamber load indicator,” a “magazine detachment mechanism” (to prevent firing of the pistol with the magazine removed), and a requirement that the pistol legibly imprint an array of information (including the firearm’s make, model, and serial number) on two locations on each fired cartridge case. " Could this be infringement? /sarc

Clearly "gun control" is solving all their gang, crime, and suicide problems like it does everywhere else.

How about?

a requirement that the pistolpolitician legibly imprint an array of information (including the firearm’s make, model, Politician's Name and serial number) on two locations on each fired cartridge case dollar donated, obtained, laundered, and possessed, real or electronically, (with the sole exception of legal pay for his position) and complete records kept of all funds of all types open to the public record. Violation penalized by loss of all pay, pension, and freedom for a period not to exceed 300 years.

Probably need a Lawyer to clean that up and make it proper. Might be convinced to halve the prison time, but not the pension & pay loss.

That microstamping thing is silly. I read that you could ruin the little stamps by practicing at a range.
Simple wear and tear of whacking the brass over and over makes them non-legible.

I never understood the idea of the magazine disconnect.

In the real world, the magazine disconnect is a safety item. Someone grabs your gun, you drop the magazine, and the chambered round is negated, so they can't shoot you with your own gun. Popular with some Departments, the feature is arguably a good idea.

The reason for the rule in CA is simply to make the guns more expensive to steal your Civil rights. Any idiocy to make it harder for citizens.

It's really not a safety. It has little to no practical purpose. It's been a feature of European military and police service pistols since they've had such devices. In the real world a pistol that is inoperable without a magazine in it is a defect.

While I agree with you, I do understand the opposite view.

Police are very likely to have their guns used against them, and European Police agencies are not known, in general, for high levels of training in martial arts or marksmanship. Some, I must point out, are very well trained, and that well trained police are considered Elite tells you a lot about the mind set.

Thus a device to make a gun Not Work is a high priority for organizations that think it likely their police will be beaten, robbed, and murdered with their own guns. In context, they are right.

As a Civilian, concerned with self defense, and defense of others, a gun that doesn't work is a deadly danger.

Our Real World is Different.

American Police Forces approach the problem with retention holsters.

Feel free to write a Paper on what that says about attitudes. ; )

Most magazine disconnects can be removed or disabled.

As a safety device it is one of the dumbest ideas ever, especially for shooters who are just learning. Without the mag disconnect you can cycle one round into the chamber and remove the mag.
Then you don't have to worry about them shooting the first shot then turning around with the gun still in shooting position and saying, "How did I do?".
Yes you could reload the mag every time with a single round but cycling a fresh round from a loaded mag then removing it keeps things moving.

If you ever bump the mag release or lose a mag when all you need is that one shot you are....
