If the first round is on the line.......

I want you to win. I'm no leftist like Bill Maher who wants a depression to get rid of Trump. I don't want people to die to win a bet.

I didn't want people to die to get rid of Obama, and he got a lot of people killed, even bragged that he was good at killing people.

Compare that to Donald's twit about buttons.

Arguably a threat of unlimited war, but only a threat, vs. Pride in murdering people, including citizens. Wacky diplomacy vs. Psychotic megalomania.

Still, total denuclearization seems highly unlikely.

Amazing how small some folks' minds are . . . . how devolved their character is and how little vision they have for a great future for America and the World . . .

If you are not Proud of President Trump . . . .as this morning dawns . . . you probably has some serious soul searching to do.

I'm proud of America . . . . and hope, someday, we return comedians and entertainers to their proper place on the social pecking order.

There's a difference between buttering up a dictator to get him to do what you want, and heaping praise on dictators when they're not around.

Of the two main political parties in the US, only one praises long dead dictators guilty of mass murder. That'd be the dems.

Obama openly admired the Chinese system that gives the Executive unlimited power to murder his enemies. The right wing pundits complained about that, but not the Washington Dem Party press.

The same press heaps hate upon the Egyptians who had a counter coup to depose Obama's favorite, the rape gang genocidal Muslim Brotherhood, who came to power when Obama pressured the Secular coalition to resign after years of suppressing terrorism and cooperation with Israel.

The Muslim Brotherhood had ongoing membership in the Obama administration and public support. That's a full court terrorist organization, closely, incestuously part of AQ/ISIS/Taliban/Pakistan.....

Even so, if there isn't an ulterior motive to the Turkish & Philippian apparent friendliness, then, sure, scorn is demanded.

Obviously the buttering up of lil Kim has ulterior motives! See headlines above.

I'm guessing the Turkish and Philippines guys are to be negotiated with in the near future, thus I expect that the Media will hate them, as they should! And that Trump will pressure Turkey on Syria, the Kurds, etc.

The Philippines are central to anti China pressure. China, the power that sent Kim to this summit to avoid a ruinous trade war.

Insert here stock photo of FDR, Churchill, and Stalin.

So, by being a no-bullshit guy, by not ignoring the grandstanding of dictators (i.e. Kim's blustering about nuking the US), and by not cow-towing to other countries and playing nice...he's a dictator?

God forbid somebody call it like it is, and protect American interests around the globe.

Canada may be polite, they may be close...but that doesn't mean they don't take advantage of us in certain situations like trade tariffs. My neighbor Kevin's a nice guy too, but if he started tossing trash into my yard I'd say something to him about it. Close doesn't mean a free pass to act up. And, Trudeau took his shots at Trumps back AFTER he left - there's a man.

Fact is, Kim put NoKo on the international map when he developed the ability to launch a nuke. Poorly...for now...but eventually he'd get one right and then there'd be trouble. So, by meeting with him, Trump isn't "putting him on the international map". His nukes, and his blustering, did. And if someone didn't pay attention now...they would when/if he managed to launch one at someone and kill a few million people.

But I guess that's all Trump's fault, too.

While I have my doubts about the long term adherence to this agreement by NOKO, this is unquestionably a step along a new path with NOKO. Trump did this with neither military force, or plane loads of cash. He has also gotten American citizens released from NOKO prisons along the way. Worst possible case at this point is that we have gotten some tangible things out of this, and given little more than holding off on some military exercises in the area. Not bad for the guy who we were told was going to get us nuked by NOKO. If OTOH, they manage to end this multi-generational stalemate of a conflict to an end, that would be huge. History will tell, but this alone casts a huge shadow on BO's best achievements.

Trump Wins Pledge From Kim To Return Remains Of Americans From Korean War
Quil Lawrence - June 12, 2018

One of the four key points agreed to by President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is to help repatriate the remains of Americans killed in action during the Korean War.

"The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified," the statement reads.

It may not have been the focus of the summit, but Korean War vets and their families were hoping the issue would come up.

"All of our members have served in combat and we understand the importance of bring our war dead home to bring closure to families," said Veterans of Foreign Wars National Commander Keith Harman.

"We fully understand the peace talks were about denuclearization — we wanted this to be part of that as well," he said.

[snip]

Thirty-five thousand Americans died on the Korean peninsula between 1950 and 1953 and 7,700 are still listed as unaccounted for. The VFW estimates that as many as 5,300 sets of remains are in North Korea.

When relations between the U.S. and the DPRK thawed slightly between 1990 and 2005, a repatriation agreement allowed 229 sets of remains to come home to American families. The VFW sent a June 6 letter to President Trump to urge him to make the issue part of the negotiation.

"For the families of those who never returned, the passage of time does not heal their wounds. For them, the days became weeks, and the weeks became months, then years, and now, sadly, decades," the letter said.

Asked about the issue after the meeting, President Trump said he'd been lobbied about the issue even as a presidential candidate.

"I must have had just countless calls and letters and tweets, anything you can do — they want the remains of their sons back," he said. "They want the remains of their fathers, and mothers, and all of the people that got caught into that really brutal war, which took place, to a large extent, in North Korea. And I asked for it today, and we got it."

Not me. I wouldn't be surprised to see top officials quit their jobs to open McDonald's franchises.
I thought the Vietnamese would be our sworn enemies, turns out they're a good trading partner. I can see North Korea eventually becoming a prosperous nation. I also doubt that China wants them to become competition to their cheap labor so there could be some subterfuge along that line.
I also liked Trumps comment along the lines of, "Should turn out great, but I could be mistaken. Of course, I won't admit it, I'll find some other excuse".
Refreshing.

I haven't been there yet but a friend of mine toured some war memorials in Vietnam. The tour guides kept saying things like, "This is where Vietnamese forces slew 1,000 American Imperialists invading our country".
My friend is a big, tall, white country boy from Virginia. He said it was super awkward. As you could imagine.
"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" is a bit cliche, but I wouldn't trust Kim any further than I could throw him. Which isn't very far, by the looks of him.

https://amgreatness.com/2018/06/12/how-twitter-dip lomacy-works-a-primer/

For years, Europeans have complained that Americans keep telling them we saved their sorry butts. True, rather rude of us to keep reminding them they'd all be slaves to the Third Rome and be speaking German without our interference. Rude to mention the only reason Stalin and his heirs don't hold them as slaves, is the U.S. and our arsenal.

True, all true. Darn rude Americans. Even worse, those uncouth cowboys complain to Europeans that they dislike being called uncouth cowboys, ( the truth can be upsetting ) especially when the European social programs that they brag about can only exist because for the first time since the Roman Republic, there are adults watching over and keeping the peace, so the countries don't have to spend their taxes on Armies to keep from being over run by their neighbors. ( the truth can be upsetting )

Reagan and Bush the Elder finally pushed the Evil Empire of the Soviet Socialists to break up, tearing down the walls and mine strewn fences keeping the millions in a hell prison of informants and bullets to the back of the head in basement torture factories...... But only after signing a confession.

Now, at last, an age of peaceful competition and trade was at hand. Darn uncouth cowboys.

But European prejudice against the barbarian Russians hadn't faded from either side of the torn down Iron Curtain, so while most of the Soviet conquered lands eagerly joined Europe, Russia never seemed to get the invitation, so business as usual prevailed there, and KGB murderers run the country and threaten war.

A war the combined might of Europe couldn't slow long enough to change the traffic signs.

Except.... England and America still support NATO.

But the the most uncouth American tells Europe they need to pay their ammo bills, that they've been behind in payments to keep their despised International Policemen at work, and maybe they might think that it's time to ante up at the table and be real players again, instead of being the girls in low cut dresses at the Casino who cadge free drinks from the Real Players.

How insulting!

I can sure see how Angela and her buddies in the cocktail party are upset. Turns out the free drinks might dry up.

Then, recently, I'm told the German Army doesn't get enough funding to keep it's airplanes flying, I can't help but remember when my plan for that before college trip of self discovery involved a four year commitment to guarding the Fulda Gap in Germany against the Soviet tank hordes.

Yeah. I'm uncouth. Rude even. I get the angst and resentment, too bad.

And if you think I'm mean, talking about European utopians? You haven't noticed my comments on our domestic ones.....

You see, we've been there. In the late 19th century, the U.S. Army didn't have enough funding to practice with our Gatling Guns, because it was thought better to issue five rounds each to the infantry for practice instead.
