Regarding that the spying was to "protect" the Trump campaign, I have read several comments: One alleged that the op ed writer was an FBI agent only from 2002 to 2005. If true, not very current or high ranking. If the spy had found the slightest bit of evidence, it would have been leaked back during the campaign or resulted in indictments months ago. Another was offended and said, "This is outrageous. The FBI extended preferential protective measures to Trump but not to Hillary Clinton." | ||

So, as far as developments in the Russia investigation, we discovered this week that the fact Andrew McCabe paid $70,000 (yes, seventy-freaking-thousand dollars) for a TABLE was redacted by the FBI from documents they turned over to congress, because, you know, national security, fate of the Republic, etc., etc. Sen. If the CIA and FBI and SS of the last 20 years and been in charge of covering up the "truth" of the JFK assassination, three things seem to me would have happened. There would be a large number of dead federal employees who didn't want to play along. Maybe so many it would be hard to cover up. After all, with the internet, you can search out radical crazy like lists of the Clinton dead. There would be a second cover up to try and hide Lee Harvey's ties to the KGB, and his communist sympathies. There would be leaks. And pardons, and possibly the bizzaro world case where CNN insisted there was no conspiracy, while Fox insisted there was, and reporters would have their laptops hacked, been spied upon, and threatened. In other words, just as history is now, but worse. | ||

One more odd thing about the "spy" in the Trump camp... If this were in fact about looking for Russia, Russia, Russia, and not about spying on a political adversary, shouldn't Trump have been brought up to speed on what was going on right after being inaugurated? Instead, here we are almost a year and a half into his Presidency, and they have failed to brief him on an investigation into foreign actors working to subvert our election process. I see one possibility where these folks should be fired for gross incompetence. I see another possibility where these same folks should have a long sentence in a federal pen. Am I missing other possibilities? | ||
