Corn don't grow at all on Rocky Top, dirt's too rocky by far. That's why all the folk on Rocky Top Get their corn from a jar. |

Second from the left is Blanton's single barrel bourbon. $50-60 a bottle and the smoothest straight bourbon I've ever tasted. I still have an ounce or two from my Thanksgiving/birthday bottle. Z |

If you like Blantons, which is getting increasingly difficult to find, give angel’s envy a try. If you can find their finished rye, buy it. You’ll thank me. Also...whiskey does not necessarily contain corn. Bourbon does. |

I do love when nerds complain that a meme is technically incorrect. At least the spelling isn't horrid. Hey, I'm a nerd too. I did actually notice that the meme was, yes, wrong. Whiskey is, after all, the invention of my ancestors, arguably the greatest contribution of the Irish to mankind, over the literature and salvation of civilization. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_the_Irish_Save d_Civilization I will argue, however, that despite corn being the only grain mentioned, making the meme technically in error, that whiskey is still a means to preserve food, typically grain, and thus the joke that it is salad is still funny. ( despite the lack of widespread popularity of beverages made from lettuce. The technical reason is sugar levels to be converted by yeast into alcohol, while the real reason is that might be an abomination in the eyes of all that is holy. ) |

I love whiskey in all it's iterations. Rye, Corn, Peat, whatever. Blanton's is way too rare to be only $60 a bottle, and yet it is. Nobody around here has it, and I just a few weeks ago finished off the bottle I brought with me to Buells in the Alps 6. Recently I was gifted a bottle of Whistle Pig 12 year old Rye... Oh. My. God. |

Blantons went consignment a few years ago. Bars and restaurants get the lion’s share. I haven’t seen it on a shelf where I live since. However, I found two bottles at a grocery store in Spokane a few weeks ago. Go figure. The angel’s envy finished rye puts the pig to shame. And it’s about $20 cheaper. You may have to ask for it. The stores around here keep it in the back. If you’re going to create a meme about bourbon, get it right. They deserve to be mocked. |

I have to agree to some extent on the social media thing. I know someone who is an incredible violist. Not that I would know, but the who's who of that world say so. When she was about 14 or 15, she made a comment once about not understanding how she wasn't famous yet. I hear 2nd and 3rd graders on the school bus bragging about how many face book friends they have. The pier pressure on them for recognition is tremendous. There is also a growing lack of respect for others in kids. This isn't just people like myself claiming it to be true. This year our school district had a big presentation on that subject. I think there are many things that contribute to this problem. Unfortunately, the "solution" has been waiting in the wings. |

There is a Laurel/yanni recording where you can change how much of each to 100% either way. I hear Laurel. My buddy hears yanni. Both of us hear the OTHER at about the same slider position off center, but in different directions. The answer is obvious. It's a test of the dead hairs in your inner ear. Both of us have different hearing loss/damage. I worked machine shops, he worked plastic molding, both drove for a living for a period of years. Yet we've lost different freqs. Simple.
