That's one scary woman there. She claims she wants to hear "all sides" while demanding that the other lady's opinion be shut down. Typical progressive though.

I don't know what other thread to post this: https://www.campusreform.org/?ID=10221

It confirms my suspicions all along that many vegetarians/vegans adopt it for political reasons to differentiate themselves from "deplorables" who cling to stuff the Woke don't like.

“Women, one of the ways they push back against patriarchy, they say, 'This is my body. You don't get to tell me what comes in and out,’”

She sounds like a person whose entire world revolves around things going in and out of her body, and she is pissed off because she doesn't have a penis, or ready access to one.

I guess, to a radical feminist, everything look like a phallic symbol.

It's pretty much spun out of control . . . . I was given the choice yesterday . . .

A) Male
B) Female
C) Non-binary

I wrote in "Threesome" . . . .

Does that make me a bad person?

I'm with Joe.

Growing up I remember pop coming home from work -
Mom would ask him "corn or green beans?" and he'd always say"yes".

It was my impression that peacekeeping troops were many times overwhelmed by combatants.

How does this guy think foreign troops are going to stop, as Eric Holder said, “his people” from shooting their neighbors?

Maybe he's just trying to draw attention to the plight of the people trapped in Dem controlled cities.

I don't think a local politician has the authority to request the presence of UN troops in the United States.

Perhaps he'd be in favor of declaring martial law? Sometimes I think that's what it's going to take to clean up these cesspools. We've tried late night basketball and hand holding...maybe shooting gang members on sight, as enemy combatants, is the way forward.

Curfew at night. Temporary, well enforced by police and State militia, locally recruited, who, during the day, go door to door to politely inquire about concerns and asking if they want a free gun? Raise the people in those troubled zones to partners in their own fates.

Technology is important. Every Militia member on the street is armed with weapon and cameras. Big brother meets YouTube. Who and where the gangs are is an information issue. Everybody knows. Multiple Facebook pages and ( every social media format ) with photogenic hosts and channels. Voyeurism and social activism. Flash mobs of good guys.

I still say, fence 'em off, install checkpoints for ingress/egress (a la East/West Berlin), and allow the Sanctuary City concept to prove itself.

Their own LEOs.

Their own budgets.

Their own monies.

Their own rules.

Show us, please, how ideal a Sanctuary City is for all involved. Prove to us, I beg you, that allowing carte blanche illegal immigration is good for the country and the citizens who live here. Document how well your strict "anti-gun" laws are working for everyone who's dying on the streets of Chicago.

We'll take good notes on how it goes for you. I promise.

The notion that we should let the "Sanctuary Cities" rot on the vine is a bit sour grapes. Pun intended. The rot will spread. It has, in real life without the metaphors, crime pours out of the sanctuaries.

The legal remedy? Good question. Any Federal crackdown on a city can be misused. Arrest the City Council? Just the ones who voted to break the law? Cut off funding? ( the current pressure method ) What if a Hillary or Obama regime had decided to crack down on Gun rights in Rural communities? A Dem/Klan Party Congress could pass a "assault weapons ban" and simply make anything that throws a projectile a WMD by insane legal definition. Sure we all think it crazy to imagine door to door Gestapo action, but you could get away with a LOT out in farm country before someone caught on and there isn't the photogenic crowd to protest. Or the will to tell the truth by the so-called News.

Like the Patriot Act and other "temporary suspensions of rights during this emergency" you have to consider that the really evil folk will take advantage of the violations that the "good guys" won't. The Obama regime exploited the devil out of the Patriot Act, and made, quite illegally, temporary power grabs permanent. ( What do you think the "unmasking" and FISA court/FBI corruption no ongoing is based on? )

On the other side of the coin.
What if Atlanta decided that Slavery was legal, the heck with the Union? ( that's very much the viewpoint of Silicon Valley ) San Diego or Charleston declaring themselves a Free Trade zone?

just because you might agree or disagree with something may not make it something you really want to deal with the results of.

My thought on the "rot on the vine" approach to sanctuary cities is, it won't take long until EVERYONE can see what a failure they are.

Chicago already has conservatives - and other anti-sanctuary folk - leaving town. That pattern will continue until the only remaining folk are sanctuary-supporters.

Let 'em do what they want to do, with no involvement or contradiction. No argument. Just...them doing what they want to do. It will become clear very quickly, what a failure the whole concept is.

Give them enough rope, in other words.

Death sentence? Maybe. But at least this way, it's only them killing themselves, not endangering other American citizens who are completely against the whole concept of "sanctuary" for illegals.

Politics hasn't proven the point one way or the other. Time for real life to do it (as if 700+ homicides a year isn't real enough...but apparently it isn't, or they'd have figured it out by now). And if we gate the city...the rot can't pour out. "You do what you want, on your side of the fence...but you STAY on your side of the fence".

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/248713-stupidity- cannot-be-cured-stupidity-is-the-only-universal-ca pital

I philosophically can't argue with the stupidity being a self correcting state. I don't know that I advocate leaving them ( sanctuary city leaders ) alone to mess up their citizen's lives. OTOH, I urge caution in our attempted solution to this problem.

I don't have a simple answer. It's easier for me to point out what not to do & why than figure out what to do.

But the lives they're messing up - at least, once it becomes known that sanctuary cities are standalone as far as infrastructure, funding, and law enforcement - aren't "citizens".

They're ILLEGALS.

CITIZENS are already leaving Chicago. I'm sure it's the same in other areas as well - SF, Portland, etc. And its a shame. But hopefully...it's temporary. Once the world sees what a wreck this makes of these cities - and how quickly it'll happen once they lose all funding and infrastructure support - the liberals won't have a leg to stand on in this case, the USA can re-take control, assert the rule of law, and things will go back to normal.

Pre-sanctuary normal, that is.

But I hold to the belief that the libs are so dead-set on proving their experiment...that we owe it to them to allow them to fail. Monumentally. And for all to see.

Semi-on topic here...there's been a new ad for a beer (Modelo?), and it blathers on about "in the fields you can't see where one country stops and another starts", and Jose M. Hernandez (with an obviously and conveniently hispanic name) went on to become an astronaut ("and in space you also can't see where one country stops and another starts"), and "it doesn't matter where you're from, it matters what you're made of".

And that's all great. I'm happy for the guy, who obviously joined the space program and got famous enough to get into a beer ad. But what they neglect to mention?

HE IS A LEGAL CITIZEN.

https://www.jsc.nasa.gov/Bios/htmlbios/hernandez-j m.html

Freakin' BORN IN CALI. Now, his bio doesn't mention if he was born to citizens or to migrants/illegals...but he's a damned US CITIZEN.

More mainstream liberal bleeding-heart "selection of truth" BS.

And, more crap that MISSES THE POINT that our President is trying to make. He's not "against all immigrants". He's not all about "locking everyone out".

He's against ILLEGAL immigrants. Period.

Want to come to the USA and make your life better? Sure! Come on in! Just...do it RIGHT. Follow the process, do it LEGALLY, and obey our laws just like everybody else is supposed to do.

Do it illegally? Get sent home.

Pretty damned simple, at least in my mind.

The sad thing about a situation like Chicago, is that there are people who are steadfast against what is being done around them, but finding themselves to be a sane minority. I've got too many good friends, who for various reasons, simply can't pick up and move right now. We already had plans to pick up and move, but it was still a difficult thing to do in some ways. As the economy started to pick up in other areas, including where we planned to move to, suddenly housing prices started going up in our destination area, but not in the Chicago area. We were lucky that we recognized this pretty quickly, and got out of Dodge pretty quickly at that point. Looking back, we both agree that we should have done it earlier. It would have saved us a good chunk of cash. Had we waited another year, it would have been an even bigger hit. Sadly, when it becomes obvious, it's far too late to avoid a big financial hit. Many simply can't absorb that hit, and are forced to cross their fingers and hope to ride it out.

Of course this is not a new story for Chicago. There are many neighborhoods that are known for going to hell, but have an elderly population that has been stranded in the dying neighborhood. This goes back to the '60s and '70s. I'm sure before that too. It's just that it's more than select neighborhoods that are going down hill. It's the entire area. Even well to do suburbs have people who have taken a huge hit. Many are still upside down on their mortgages due to the failing real estate prices.

I say it often... "It's a good time to be out of Illinois!"

And it doesn't have to be 'death and dismemberment' that proves the point to the world.

It can be mass-exodus.

It can be property values plummeting, city-wide.

It can be businesses shutting down or moving out.

It can be 4% GDP around the nation...and 0% in the city.

It can be the voices of the few, standing up and SHOUTING that they won't go, they won't live there under those conditions, and IT'S TIME TO CHANGE.

I guess my point, more than just walling them off and condemning them, is that something has to change. There has to be a polarizing moment to initiate the shift in mentality about DACA, and illegals, and sanctuaries, and the fact that these laws have been on the books for decades and the only debate right now is that people have to FOLLOW the laws that already exist!

Something has to happen to start the thought process of "hey...this isn't working...".

If the federal government has to step in (or step out, completely) to draw real focus to the actual conditions in these places...so be it. But status quo for politics and public opinion...isn't working right now.

We're removing statues so we can't learn from history. Time to write some new history; maybe at least we'll learn from the present.
