Blake, I know you wanted to get to the meat and potatoes of that thenation.com article, but, here is some more info that is interesting buried in that piece...

By any balanced reckoning, the official case purporting to assign a systematic hacking effort to Russia, the events of mid-June and July 5 last year being the foundation of this case, is shabby to the point taxpayers should ask for their money back. The Intelligence Community Assessment, the supposedly definitive report featuring the “high confidence” dodge, was greeted as farcically flimsy when issued January 6. Ray McGovern calls it a disgrace to the intelligence profession. It is spotlessly free of evidence, front to back, pertaining to any events in which Russia is implicated. James Clapper, the former director of national intelligence, admitted in May that “hand-picked” analysts from three agencies (not the 17 previously reported) drafted the ICA. There is a way to understand “hand-picked” that is less obvious than meets the eye: The report was sequestered from rigorous agency-wide reviews. This is the way these people have spoken to us for the past year.

Behind the ICA lie other indefensible realities. The FBI has never examined the DNC’s computer servers—an omission that is beyond preposterous. It has instead relied on the reports produced by Crowdstrike, a firm that drips with conflicting interests well beyond the fact that it is in the DNC’s employ. Dmitri Alperovitch, its co-founder and chief technology officer, is on the record as vigorously anti-Russian. He is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, which suffers the same prejudice. Problems such as this are many.

“We continue to stand by our report,” CrowdStrike said, upon seeing the VIPS blueprint of the investigation. CrowdStrike argues that by July 5 all malware had been removed from the DNC’s computers. But the presence or absence of malware by that time is entirely immaterial, because the event of July 5 is proven to have been a leak and not a hack. Given that malware has nothing to do with leaks, CrowdStrike’s logic appears to be circular.

In effect, the new forensic evidence considered here lands in a vacuum. We now enter a period when an official reply should be forthcoming. What the forensic people are now producing constitutes evidence, however one may view it, and it is the first scientifically derived evidence we have into any of the events in which Russia has been implicated. The investigators deserve a response, the betrayed professionals who formed VIPS as the WMD scandal unfolded in 2003 deserve it, and so do the rest of us. The cost of duplicity has rarely been so high.

I concluded each of the interviews conducted for this column by asking for a degree of confidence in the new findings. These are careful, exacting people as a matter of professional training and standards, and I got careful, exacting replies.

All those interviewed came in between 90 percent and 100 percent certain that the forensics prove out. I have already quoted Skip Folden’s answer: impossible based on the data. “The laws of physics don’t lie,” Ray McGovern volunteered at one point. “It’s QED, theorem demonstrated,” William Binney said in response to my question. “There’s no evidence out there to get me to change my mind.” When I asked Edward Loomis, a 90 percent man, about the 10 percent he held out, he replied, “I’ve looked at the work and it shows there was no Russian hack. But I didn’t do the work. That’s the 10 percent. I’m a scientist.”

there is more if you are interested.

Never Give UP "we the people". The truth is out there!

East Coast, H.R. McMaster, and thumb drive. Who are his associates that provide him "advice"?

NSA can "see" downloads, this wasn't a download. Transfer rate impossible to replicate across USA, let along Russia. This would appear to be an inside job.

Leaky, Leaky!

It's about ready to blow, and we aren't talking about Yellowstone here folks!

The Left is based on and depends on lies. Why would facts change anything?

It's also pretty obvious that the Clinton machine/DNC is perfectly willing to murder people to keep the power. Ask that Rich fellow..... Oh, yeah, he's dead. Having you bosses literally get away with murdering a leaker is great incentive to keep your mouth shut.

Blow? CNN won't admit this, or the other left media, so what's to blow? A tiny minority already targeted by the govt. as a greater threat that AQ?

MSNBC isn't going to have headlines about how the whole Russian meme is a lie.

MSNBC jerk was complaining Trump hadn't yet properly condemned the violence of the racist riot to her satisfaction while the story was still breaking, battle still.in progress, and the facts muddied by lazy and biased media.

I suppose that's the legacy of Barack and his no-facts-needed style of instant self righteousness. Multiple times he has vomited opinion free from facts to look good. ( in the eyes of his virtue signaling base ).

When he spewed that stuff about the police in the Henry Gates incident . . . it eroded any credibility he ever dreamed of having.

But it made him feel better about himself!

The destruction of public confidence in law enforcement was the intended result. He doubled down on that quest his last years in office with public support for Black Lives Matter and gave tacit approval to the cop hating group and the murders they inspired and called for.

But most of Obama's moves to ruin western civilization no doubt made him feel good about himself. From N. Korea to Iran, he got that joy in actions leading to mass murder of innocents. Venezuela's dictator, Chinese brutal rulers, even his good friend Vladimir were openly admired for their raw power to murder their enemies.

Trump has different ideas, therefore he is a nazi.

That's all it takes these days.

Just ask google employees.

Trump does need to get his act together. However, he ran on the "drain the swamp" platform which put dems and republicans equally in the crosshairs. That means they're ALL threatened by him. Therefore...who's going to help him learn how to be President? Who's going to teach him how to get stuff done in the DC quagmire? It's not a NYC boardroom and I think he's learned that. What he needs to learn is, how to navigate the swamp. That's going to be the only way to get stuff done.

Watching Fox News with my coffee and they're reporting GDP is up 3.8%. Holy crap! But...nobody is going to know because the MSM won't share that. People are only being shown the bad, so everyone assumes that's all there is. Information monopoly (MSM, google, et al) is going to make it a hundred times harder for him to make any progress, and that makes it even MORE critical that he learn how to navigate the swamp. Quickly.

Sadly, it seems Trump is the only politician with the stones to stand on the premise that the first amendment, as well as the rest of the constitution applies to ALL the people of our country. Even those with a vile message. All others have crumbled to the mob rules mentality. I suppose this is just the swamp creatures circling the wagons, but it is very sad to see. They had an opportunity to stand with Trump in support of the Constitution. This is a dark time in our nation's history. I guess Trump has proven he is not a politician.

Time to overthrow the entire apple cart?

The stuff all over the media and social media is crazy.

The narratives and attacks are so presupposed, thinly veiled, poorly constructed, and flatly ridiculous it's absurd.

I guess the Russia thing was dying and they needed a new crisis.

People are way too easily manipulated.

It's basically just more of the same "Trump is a hateful racist, because."

Fringe groups clashing with fringe groups in what appears to be an orchestrated display is hardly proof that Trump and all of his followers are racist bigots.

It really is an odd thing. The focus has been on the NAZI group, but there was also the KKK, and I'm sure others. I really don't know where the NAZI group currently stands politically, but here's the definition I find when I google it...

quote:

a member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

That's pretty much what I expected. The left has gone full retard socialist recently. The KKK always has been owned by the Democrat party. BLM is full on Democrat. If we want to go down the path of making hate groups illegal, the best way to do that is to make the Democrat party illegal. How do they even attach this to the right? I wish the libs would enter into a discussion on this, but I also know how those discussions go. The best they seem to be able to do is crawl out of their safe space long enough to make some obviously false allegations, then retreat back to their safe space.

I've about had it with the media claiming the victim in C-ville was attending a peaceful demonstration. Their side showed up with body armor and weapons, with the intention of clashing with a group that had legal permits for their rally. Had they not engaged in violence, this stupid girl would still be alive. Then, should we be painting the entire demonstration with the actions of a single person in a car? There is no apparent evidence that this was anything other than the actions of a single individual. There is also evidence that it was provoked by the counter-protesters. I honestly feel that I'm living in a country that has collectively lost it's mind.

Luckily the insanity is concentrated in liberal city centers.

Pseudo communists and neo socialists clash along with white and black supremacists (both of whom are Democratic party creations) and it's all a right wing problem. Okeydokey.

Bannon is going back to Breitbart to wage war on the alt-left.

His words, not mine.

With the information he has now, this is extremely dangerous for the left. And remember - POTUS can declassify pretty much what he wants when he wants. I forsee some interesting weeks ahead.

By the way, has anyone noticed? No Russia story anywhere in the MSM for a full week now. Which leads one to wonder, where do they go once the whole "your rascist!" narrative blows up their face too?

I'm guessing horrible immigrant suffering at the border, and inhumane treatment of illegals and their children. Kids always make good press...

"Your racist" is just a stand by filler for the left. It's way over used, and I have pretty much zero respect for those who throw it out there and can't explain the racism they claim. The events in C-ville, while ugly, had absolutely zero connection to Trump or the mainstream right. The mainstream left OTOH, does give support to groups like BLM, Antifa, OWS, etc. You almost have to be blind to not see who is causing problems in our nation.

I'm waiting for the "morning after" regret phase, when the populus who was suckered by the left realizes they've effectively erased parts of our nations history, for no good reason, and made themselves look like total asshats in the process.

Eventually people will realize who the left is. Who they REALLY are. We'll have an ugly phase first...but eventually it'll come to light and there'll be the regret, and the understanding.

This is the logical outcome of our educational system that indoctrinates but fails to educate.

Before the Civil War: "The United States are ...
After the Civil War: "The United States is ...

In this context, Robert E Lee felt allegiance to his home State of Virginia and turned down command of Union forces. In 2017, this is difficult for the uneducated to understand.

Robert E Lee fought with distinction in the Mexican-American War. Lee abhorred slavery evidenced in his writings that the uneducated are ignorant of this. After the Civil War, Lee promoted Reconstruction.

Robert E Lee is vilified by the Leftist today strictly for political gain.

Like him or not, Lee is an integral part of United States history and erasing his memory only places us in danger with the despots that are slithering daily onto our television sets and iphones.

This won't fit on a bumper sticker, so it will have to be reduced to a few syllables. Easier to just remove it all from history.

I love these discussions here on BadWeb. I know I have learned a lot over the years. I've learned very fascinating things that I could never have predicted. Yet some complain about these discussions. Maintaining ignorance is easy!
