Late in the campaign "something" happened to them. By that, I mean it appeared they had both been given orders to stand down campaign-wise (but still put on a good front).

I've watched that happen in campaigns both large and small around the USA in recent times. There is a Deep State. It is very real and traded like Wall Street, horse heads and all. People die with transparency/the inside scoop, right on their lips, silenced forever!

Don't give up is correct. Even if your guy is in the WH, burn down the comm lines in your local/DC offices! After all, this is representative gov't.

While I have, for the most part, come around to a position where I like President Trump...

I have similarly come around and can see that Ryan is a turd in the punch bowl.

Just as the Democrat demands for a full investigation and prosecution for "Russian involvement" is backfiring, ( turns out the socialist Dems are armpit deep in Russian suck up & corruption. ..... who'd a thunk? ) I think making "legitimate" tantrum politics and total disrespect is going to backfire on the left.

I don't see this as a positive feature for the survival of our culture.
Take away the veneer of civilization and it gets ugly fast.

There's a great quote from David Weber's Honor Harrington series. "Why do people like you always think you're more ruthless than people like me?"

resisting Trump policies such as stepped-up deportations of people living in the country illegally

I still can't wrap my brain around this concept. WHY are they supporting ILLEGALS? I just don't get the thought process as a whole - not just on the illegals thing (we need to abolish that damn "undocumented" word), but this whole protest thing in general. I guess it's the entitlement/snowflake mentality - "I wanted to win and I didn't win so now I'm going to have a tantrum until things go my way". Sad. All our PC, all our "sensitivity", all our participation trophies...have devolved us into a nation of five year olds.

WHY are they supporting ILLEGALS?

Votes. They can give Illegals stuff out of your pocket and they get votes.

Import a servant class.

Black people, the former slave class, are stagnant in population due to the valiant efforts of the eugenics program with Planned Parenthood to kill the lesser races. So they need to have more dependents for the Holy State. Not making them locally? Import them.

Cheap labor for the super rich that bribe the politicians, like Facebook, Google, Disney, etc.

Cheap labor for the moderately rich, to clean their pools & homes, landscape their property, take care of their children, clean their offices.

Cheap labor for the evil Capitalist Pigs who prefer workers they can threaten with deportation if they complain about unsafe working conditions.

etc. etc. etc.

You have to understand that the Progressive has the deep seated belief that they are properly the Aristocracy. Can't be Upper Class without a lower class to exploit. And the Progressive Legend is ALL ABOUT Class. It's just Marxism with a coat of enamel paint & extra chrome.

If you want the most offensive answer?

A century of exploiting the blacks by telling them they are helpless children, and making sure inner city public schools don't teach them anything useful or actual history, has cost the rich "liberal" a useful servant class.

Since Ted Kennedy pushed the racist immigration laws we now have, cutting off the supply of poor European servants, they have to import them from somewhere else.

And any kind of difference, skin color, language, culture, is plenty for the Racist Progressive to pigeon hole anyone into a "different race" to be exploited, while promising that you are their savior and protector against the Evil American Public. That is the tradition of the Plantation & Klan Party. They'll never let that mindset go. It sells to trash with poor self esteem.

That's why you are Racist if you resist Muslim Sharia takeover, even though Muslim is in no way a Race.

And why "hispanics" who are white europeans get their own Race. ( It's too late in the process to make Greeks & Italians a Race, the big immigration waves from there are over, but Turks may get that Damnation. )

Oh, I get why the "ruling class" wants illegals to stick around.

My question was, why are the SHEEPLE fighting for the illegals? Sure, it's cheap labor for pool cleaning and yard work...but are they really too stupid to realize these people are taking THEIR jobs in the end? Devaluing THEIR workforce? Taking welfare and medical and insurance dollars out of THEIR pockets?

I guess I know the answers to those, actually...since they started with "are they really too stupid to...".

That pretty well sums it up.

But . . it's not the homes . . it's the hypocrisy. I think it's cool for folks to aspire to have nice place(s) to live and to be able to acquire things that please them.

But . . I am also a huge fan of individual effort, fee will and a system that rewards effort and results not mediocrity and "trying".

We live in the only country where nearly everyone on public assistance has a flat screen tv, cellphone and air conditioning.

If . . . and it's a HUGE if . . . Trump gets taxes under control and bring some equity to the system and the result is the return of industry to America and tons of those unemployed kids start working, earning, having their self esteem rise and spending . . . thus generating sales taxes . . . you're going to see a major shift in America.

But . . the "if" is huge . . . The President is now immersed in a swamp that may be bigger and more infested than he had suspected. He can't hold a private conversation with anyone in the world and has alienated the intelligence community. He also is going to have to muzzle that Twitter thing and put a lease on Kelly Ann.

It's also a shame . . . after years of bitching . . that the Republicans don't have a much more compelling health care plan.

We've a window . . absent the likes of Hillary, Bernie and the Indian princess Elizabeth . . . someone needs to get busy and focused.

The health care plan thing is depressing all around.

First, Obama promises money the government doesn't have, forces individuals to spend money they don't have, and commits states to spend money they don't have, and is credited with "solving the healthcare crises".

Then Republicans, correctly but uselessly, just dismantle some of the parts that were promised but never possible to fund.

And all the media can parrot is some kind of idiot "Republicans cut spending on the sick" mantra that demonstrates a level of fiscal maturity and unjustified arrogance of the average 14 year old.

The Democrats see the problem, but can't do math or be burdened by facts.

The Republicans see the constraints and the problems with the solutions, but can't bring themselves to be the leaders they should be.

And the press, that continually poisons the well with ignorance and emotional drama to feed the monster of controversy to try and make fractions of pennies on the dollar for the discord they sow.

I'm not sure which of the three I blame the most. I wish all would show some character, morals, wisdom, and responsibility.

The R's plan should be to scrap the thing, and all the BS laws about where you can buy insurance, and let the market figure it out. People, as individuals, tend to make the best decisions about what is best for their situation. That's why capitalism works. Let's let it, for a change.

If the health care system was working so well, then there would never have been Obamacare. Face it, part of the purpose of government is to protect the people it governs. Insurance companies can be extremely predatory, and have been in the past.
And although some here might disagree with this, I think that Unrestricted Capitalism is an evil equal to Unrestricted Socialism. The trick is finding a decent balance between the two. And that balance isn't fixed; it moves with different situations and different issues.

I philosophically agree, but I think a large corporate bureaucracy is only a little less dangerous and malicious than a large government bureaucracy.

So I do think there is room for some rules on who can do what, and those need an honest discussion.

Basically, I think there needs to be structure and transparency to make the bets fair bets. because both the house and the gamblers will *always* cheat if you don't stop them.

Don't let the insurance companies drop people that have paid for coverage just because they aren't cheap anymore. But don't let people wait until they know they will spend less buying insurance than medical coverage before they buy insurance.

And some sane tort reform. Being sick is dangerous, medicine is a human process, and mistakes and defects will happen, and even when they don't, things will often turn out badly anyway.

The reason for obamacare was to collapse the system so that the people would demand single payer government healthcare. No secret. They admitted it.

The solution is worse than the problem. In most cases, when government does nothing, it's the right move.

Somebody needs to shut Trump the fvck up . . . .

He . . .while I kinda wish he were tending to the problems of the U.S.A. . . is sitting there flinging out "Tweets" about the ongoing testimony before Congress.

By doing it while the hearings are taking place . . . he's allowing the Dems to read the Tweets and ask "is this what you said?".

Of course it's not . . . which is effectively making The President a real time liar to 16,000,000+ folks.

I am beginning to have concerns about his longevity. He's running the office of The President like a kid would act as President of a High School class.

Donald . . grow the fvck up and do what you were elected to do.

CNN Headline

By the way that is NOT what Comey said.

That's the benefit of sitting here watching in real time. It's not even REMOTELY what he said.

Comey . . to paraphrase . . said that the Russians considered Trump to have no chance but hated Hillary so much that their efforts were directed at her . . . in general . . but the specific goal was simply to sow confusion and erode the credibility of the process.

>>>So you are saying the headline is misleading?

It is.

If they had left off the "help Trump" . . . . I'd buy that. There was NO INTENT to help Trump. Trump, nor any of his folks, prompted any of this. The genesis was to destabilize and based on their hatred of Hillary Clinton.

The news is creating the illusion that somehow Trump colluded with the Russians to help defeat Hillary.

That's patently false.

I am so tired of hearing these slants. It seems that every news anchor I have observed since the election will report most of the headline, or the part that they want heard, then they always have to inject their own "this is not good" or "sad" or it won't work".

This little verbal interjection is not part of journalism, it is a small personal attack to enhance the slant. There was a time they would get fired for that, now it probably gets them a $ bonus.

I was interviewed on the phone for one of those media's ten minute political poles last week. I was honest for the most part but laid into them when their questions got stupid with a slant. A few times I told them "here is my answer,....., none of the four responses you want me to give would be a correct answer!"

When they asked me how I felt about Nancy Pelosi my answer was laughter, at that point I could not stop laughing. She said "I will take that as a 'not favorable'"

When the lady asked me my race, I said "what is yours". She said "I do not have to answer that", I said "neither do I".

I love me a good polster!
