You'll have to check these . . . they are items I heard on the various NYC radio stations today . . . .

325,000 immigrants arriving by air yesterday.

109 detained

It's unfortunate that, among there number, are some rather obvious and shining examples of folks that seem to be perfect "non-risks" such as returning academic staff and a guy who's live in San Antonio for years and was visiting his parents.

The details of this are going to have to be dialed in. But, it's quite easy to see that there's no reason to refuse entry to Australian Catholics . . .

It's quite easy to put a finger on at least one component that has been present in nearly each and every attack on Americans.

They will sort the details of this out in the coming days. I suspect that, in 30 days, when the Joint Chiefs returns that plan to go after ISIS that much will become clear.

I'm glad it's moderate like Trump doing this. I'd be in favor of sending American Operators in and putting a bounty on ISIS fighters.

We are fighting a war that like nothing we have ever seen an it seems quite logical that if we fail to see the enemy for who they are, fail to engage them and fail to kill them . . . we'll, eventually, be having that same fight here.

The "Trump's business interests" holds no more water that "countries where Buells are sold". There are between 51 and 109 countries in the world that are "majority Muslim". It's a bit of a tough number to pin down since 49.99% is not a majority and 50.01% is a majority so even small population fluctuations . . . in countries where there are massive movements of folks due to conflicts, can make a difference.

But . . under a worst case scenario of 51 . . . the 7 in President Trump's order make up a small fraction.

He, like his predecessor Obama, is targeting TERROR not religion.

Smart guy . . good leader.

You sure wouldn't know that by listening to the mainstream media today...

President Trump Releases Statement – U.S. Media Officially Twisted Like Pretzels
By Sundance, 01/29/2017

Well, it would appear Don McGahn and Don Trump have indeed played the media, left-wing moonbats and the unintelligent GOPe like a Stradivarius. With bait firmly taken, the trap snaps shut.

Here’s the statement from the White House:

There are two aspects to the Trump executive order:

- One aspect pertains to a 120-day pause on Syrian refugees.

- The second aspect pertains to a 90-day pause on visas for seven countries outlined as “nations of concern” by prior law and Obama’s DHS policy.

These are two distinct and separate aspects to the executive order. In their thirst to undermine President Trump, both the media and now the GOPe are intentionally conflating the two issues.

Against the reality of President Trump 2017 simply following an almost identical refugee pause process as President 0bama in 2011, the media are twisting like pretzels to reconcile how Trump is bad, but 0bama is good.

- President 0bama puts six month ban on Iraqi refugees in 2011 and media...crickets.

- President Trump puts 120 day suspension on Syrian refugees 2017...media explodes.

- 0bama selects seven countries for enhanced visa security policy and media...crickets.

- Trump uses 0bama law, same 0bama DHS policy, and same seven countries for a 90-day visa suspension and media explodes.

This simply cannot be accidental, and given the release from the White House it most certainly looks like the media was set up to create a crisis where no crisis existed.

I don't like the guy, but his enemies are so foul I'm beginning to.

I have tried to make my liberal friends understand this. Most of them are pretty smart, and it's a little terrifying how they cognitively just shut down cold.

I see the right do this, and Christians also, and pretty much every other group. But usually in small numbers. The left seems to be like 10x as susceptible.

I'm thinking Trump saw this, and figured out how to play that vulnerability like a fiddle. This actually concerns me a little, as I saw the hostile media coverage as an effective check on Trump's more extreme tendencies. But if they don't stop being so stupid, irrational, and easily played, they won't be.

I'm not a fan of "breaking things" around immigration in order to fix them. I would have asked for a less disruptive approach, because frankly I would rather absorb a few hostiles and deal with that rather than send some innocent persecuted refugee back to certain death. I recognize that as a hard personal decision between two reasonable choices, and respect anyone on either side of the argument. Fix the problem, but don't shut down the machine while you do it. So I basically disagree with Trump's approach here.

But the way the media reported it, and got so much wrong, and was so stupid and irrational, and the way the left got so extreme, irrational, and intolerant... so help me... I am just so annoyed, tired, and shocked by their behavior... God help me... I'm starting to agree with Trump. Just like when I voted for him... not as something I want... just as something I don't want a little less than the alternative (which I REALLY don't want).

Geesh.

But the way the media reported it, and got so much wrong...

They got it "wrong" by design, of course; every false narrative the MSM pushed this weekend (and FOX is almost as guilty as the rest...) was deliberate.

One might ask: Who has the horsepower to literally own 90% of the media in this country?

The answer is frightening.

Reep, this is NOT directed at you (friendly disclaimer : )): I continue to read, in my online travels, comments from well-meaning Americans wondering how the media continually gets it so wrong.

Actually, the opposite is true. If one considers the left's objectives, this weekend was a wild success for them.

Community organizing advanced to a nationwide art form.

Someone up-thread asked about a reliable MSM source for truth. Sadly, there isn't one.

And when I suggested that he obtain his news from alternative sources, part of the reply was, in effect, "Well, that would be hard" (i.e., laborious, time-consuming, etc.).

I fully agree.

The bad guys know this, of course. The bad guys DEPEND on this.

President Trump is President Trump for many reasons...including brilliantly working around the MSM firewall to get the truth out.

To my point: The left (including the MSM) is wrong, stupid and irrational by design.

It's called community organizing. Some of the folks being organized aren't smart enough to know they're being manipulated, sadly, and the rest don't care - the end justifies the means.

We won a major victory in November.

The war, however, rages on.

Trump Refugee Order Balances Security and Compassion
By James Carafano - Daily Signal/Heritage Foundation, 01/28/2017

Read any commentary on the just-signed executive order on visa and refugee vetting from several countries in the Middle East and odds are the assessment will tell you more about the writer’s politics than be an analysis of the order.

I confess: I have a perspective as well. Mine comes from working on the presidential team on both foreign policy and homeland security from after the Republican convention up to the inauguration. I can’t share the detailed workings of the team. But what I can share, having worked on the issues, is what I believe guided the work.

And it all started with making America safe.

Not campaign promises, anger at any religion, or prejudice of any kind impacted our thinking on the transition team. What we were worried about were future threats.

As the space for the Islamic State, or ISIS, gets squeezed in the Middle East, the remains of the tens of thousands of foreign fighters will have to flow somewhere. Every nation, not just the U.S., believes they are most likely to flow to the countries cited in the order. That fact, and only that fact, is why those countries are included on the list. Indeed, when it comes to visa vetting, that’s why the European Union has restrictions that are comparable to the United States.

The reason why we all worry is because, from those countries, foreign fighters could well try to flow to the West, principally by using visas or posing as refugees. When they get to the West, they could carry out terrorist acts. We know that because they already have—specifically in Western Europe.

They haven’t come to the U.S.—yet. Right now, our primary threat is Islamist-related terror plots that are organized by terrorists who are already here.

What this administration is doing is making sure we are ready for the next wave of terrorism as well—the outflow of terrorists from the countries of conflict where the foreign fighters are likely to go first.

There are already cries that the precautions are unfair—creating hardships. Fair enough, but terrorists attacks (like those at the Bataclan in France by the followers of ISIS) create unbearable hardships as well—and the government has the responsibility to find the right balance between security and compassion for its citizens as well as consider how U.S. actions impact others around the world.

One area where the order tries to get that balance right is to ensure future refugee processing prioritizes addressing the plight of religious minorities. That is particularly crucial in the Middle East where the remnants of the region’s Christian communities are under severe threat.

Worldwide persecutions against Christian minorities have been rising for four straight years. It’s particularly problematic in the Middle East. The administration is making an extra effort to address that crisis.

While critics will continue to demonize the administration’s policies because they don’t fit their politics, Americans who crave a foreign policy that prioritizes American interests, puts a compassionate face on statecraft that reflects our values, and acts responsibly will find much to respect in the order.

Trump Takes the First Step in Restoring the US Military
By Thomas Spoehr - Daily Signal/Heritage Foundation, 01/28/2017

On Friday, President Donald Trump signed an exceptionally important executive order initiating both the beginning of the rebuilding of the U.S. armed forces and the fulfillment of a campaign promise.

Because he signed this order on the same day he signed the order on immigration it hasn’t yet gotten the attention it deserves. That’s a shame.[*]

The order, titled “Rebuilding the U.S. Armed Forces,” has not yet been officially posted to the White House website. But a draft of the order, accompanied by news reports, gives us enough details to be able to assess it.

The order directs Secretary of Defense James Mattis to conduct a 30-day review of the readiness of the armed forces to assess their ability to conduct the fight against the Islamic State, or ISIS, and other forms of radical Islamic terrorism, as well as near peer competitors and regional adversaries.

* Here's a perfect example of the left's tactical brilliance: A VERY positive by-product for them via distracting the nation over the weekend is they've kept many (most?) Americans totally in the dark about 1) the EO regarding rebuilding our military, and 2) how vitally important this EO is to our national security.

Most Americans would be jumping up and down for joy at this news...if they only knew about it.

The left, via the MSM, has literally sucked away all the oxygen from this EO.

Makes one wonder which side the mainstream media is on...

Canadian Terrorists Shout “Allahu Akbar” During Slaughter Inside Canadian Mosque – Six Killed, Eight Injured
By Sundance, 01/30/2017

Two suspects shouted “Allahu Akbar” and opened fire inside the The Islamic Cultural Center of Quebec, which is also known as the grand mosque of Quebec. At least 6 people were killed, 8 injured / 6 in very serious condition. 39 potential victims escaped (link).

[CBC.CA] A witness, who asked to remain anonymous, told CBC’s French-language service Radio-Canada that two masked individuals entered the mosque.

“It seemed to me that they had a Quebecois accent. They started to fire, and as they shot they yelled, ‘Allahu akbar!’ The bullets hit people that were praying. People who were praying lost their lives. A bullet passed right over my head,” said the witness.

“There were even kids. There was even a three-year-old who was with his father.” (link)

After retiring with 30yrs in the USAF I'm surprised at how few people in this country really truly understand the issues that face our country and the world. I've sacrificed for this country and therefore feel entitled to say more, yet like others like me I say the least publicly.

Let's start with the basics... how many understand the national security goals and objectives, the national security council, the quadrennial review and other such things that are supposed to shape our interaction and involvement in other countries and global affairs.

When was the last time the quadrennial review was REALLY completed? When was it last made public through the news as a key discussion that's important to us as Americans? Does the news as we know it today shape their reporting around the base of our national security goals and objectives to inform the people of this country or do they spin "talk" to grab your attention so they can gain followers and merely make money while they cast stones at others for being profit driven?

Presidents shouldn't be voted by emotion, they should be voted in by facts and achievement record and achievement potential.

Obama was the worst president we have ever had FACTS:
1) National debt has increased more than under ANY other president
2) division between upper, middle and low class increased
3) Racial tension under a black president is not better, it's worse than it's ever been in our country, it's ripping us apart
4) He abused the Authority of his position worse than any other president (number of executive ordered issued AND the scope of orders exceeds Lane of authority
5) he is the only president EVER to speak down to and be condescending to the American people
6) trade deals and Nuclear deals with terrorist supporting countries

The list goes on, I encourage you to objectively measure his presidency and be willing to accept the facts, REALLY his only concern as he departed his post was his legacy! He said it MANY times!

Hillary is s criminal period dot!!
She violated the constitution and the rules and governing regulations that outline her authority as the Secretary of State and PEOPLE DIED by her own failure to do her job, and she can't "remember"? She has LIED to us, congress, the FBI, and the president and keeps getting caught in her own lies, she hates the military, despises the middle class, and doesn't care about America, she only cares about being in power, and has seeded this country with illegal aliens, NOT immigrants as they haven't embraced our country and become citizens, by the millions to establish an incredible pool of voters to keep the Dems (herself) in power. She believes in bad trade deals that destroy our country as a producer of raw and finished materials only to line her pockets and investors with the money from those deals.

Trump is a buffoon when he speaks, but an incredibly successful buffoon, he holds no ties to anyone in government, owes no favors to special interest groups, and offers a clean slate approach severing the mired stronghold that is entrenched in our government by all the back door deals that are strangling our country.

America has spoken and we elected to embrace a clean slate approach to fix what Obama dug us into.

I encourage some of you to get off your couch, turn of the bullshit media that's no longer reporting and has chosen to "sensationalize and spin", and get really educated first, then try and better understand what's really going on, for those of you that fully understand, God bless you!

Sorry about the complaint about news vetting getting incrementally harder. It was a shallow complaint only.

The ban is clearly not against Muslims, and the president has the authority to govern immigration.

I'm not a fan because it is ban against the world's neediest people, minority Christian refugees included, for what appears to be entirely political reasons.

IMHO this is not how Jesus would have done it.

True, but Jesus's problem was Roman Occupation, while he was trying to reform the Church that had gone corrupt. So the church had the Romans kill him.

Today, he'd be lucky to be a refugee. Or he'd be a resistance fighter. Probably a good one.

Interesting working theory as to the WHY:

quote:

Possible motive explained Via GoV

http://gatesofvienna.net/2017/01/salafists-gun-dow n-murtadeen-at-a-quebec-city-mosque/

The following video sheds some light on what may actually have happened in Quebec City tonight. It’s taken from the Facebook page of the mosque that was attacked. In it you’ll hear the imam of the mosque discuss the enmity of former members of the congregation who were unhappy with the blasphemous “moderation” of this mosque — that is, the shot-up mosque was full of murtadeen, or apostates.

Tonight’s attack may well have been an execution of Islamic justice against murtadeen by Salafist zealots.

I am a canadian. Many of us in our community have been reading this sight and deeply appreciate the work that sundance has done to help us understand the underlying motivations of events. We need all the help we can get.
Our government passed a motion in 2016 to condemn all forms of Islamophobia in the country. Consequently, many acts of violence committed by moslems in the name of Islam are not reported by mainstream media. They may report the event but leave out the names and ethnicity Supposedly, this is to prevent Islamophobia. The many lawsuits against our schools for not providing prayer rooms etc.,are often not reported by the national media. Justin Trudeau is going to destroy our country!

quote:

Easier said than done to survive Trudeau. We do not have the First Amendment right that you have. There have been over 2000 complaints by teachers in New Brunswick trying to integrate refugees into the school system. Teachers and children assaulted, boys refusing to have a female teachers, girls refusing to sit beside boys, adults in with children etc.

The newspaper had to pull an editorial piece about the problems because it could be considered as inciting Islamophobia. The problems were not reported by any of the media!!!!! We are getting some information through ‘rebel media’ on line. A 14 year old girl was sexually assaulted by 2 migrants while at her first high school dance. Nothing reported by the mainstream media!!!

We also do not have an electoral college. We usually can’t get past Ontario before the election is called due to the population. Ontario has 121 seats , Quebec 78 while all of western Canada (Man. Sask. Alberta and BC) combined has only 104 seats. Most moslems are in Ontario, Quebec and now New Brunswick. Trudeau visited every mosque in every province before the election.

No first amendment and no electoral college – we may not survive this!
[emphasis mine - FB]

I am praying for the United States and President Trump. He is fighting like hell and it seems that the whole world is against him.

Prayers and good wishes going your way!!

quote:

There are on-line petitions to separate Ontario into 2 parts. Only Toronto counts in voting because of its huge population. There is also a petition to separate the 4 western provinces from the east. This is a massive undertaking but without the electoral college that you have, it is the only avenue we have.

Fb1, thanks for the "WHY" posting on the Quebec mosque attack.

In my personal experience with Christian churches, when there's a major doctrinal dispute, the church congregation usually SPLITS, resulting in two churches. They don't usually shoot up the place.

Just an observation.

A "small business" is described as a business employing 500 or less employees. 500 employees? That's a BIG business, IMO!

The folks in the clip above aren't stupid or ill-informed, obviously. And there they are, openly supporting our new president. These are just some of the folks in the trenches of our great nation, struggling valiantly to fuel our economic furnace.

We didn't get to hear all the small-business leaders speak, but of the few shown in that clip a good number of so-called minorities are well represented.

Which is at it should be.

Well done, Mr. President.
