President-Elect Trump Announces Economic Nationalist Dream Team: Mnuchin, Ross and Ricketts
By Sundance, Nov. 30, 2016

Today, via Facebook (<– specifically note this), President-Elect Donald Trump announces more members of his economic team: Steven Mnuchin for Treasury Secretary, Wilbur Ross as Commerce Secretary, and Todd Ricketts as Deputy Commerce Secretary.

In essence, the Trump economic patriotism platform takes shape with the introduction of a few more key members for the domestic economy dream team.

If you have followed the Trump economic mindset from the beginning, you’ll know exactly what the purpose of each of these players are into the larger scope of domestic capital infusion. Remember, one of the essential elements Trump needs is to create the environment where the best play is domestic, ie. Main Street, investment.

To reverse three decades of economic outsourcing, the investment scales (best return) must tip from Wall Street (global investment) to Main Street (domestic investment), that’s where Mnuchin, Ross and Ricketts come into play. Economic patriotism is leveraged by steering capital investment much like well constructed levies can steer the flow of water.

Forbes is now forecasting over 6% GDP growth. Let that sink in.

quote:

“We are going to have an integrated plan and work closely between commerce and treasury to make sure that we drive growth in this country. Our number one priority is sustained 3-4% GDP,” added Mnuchin.

Furthermore, Mnuchin said tax reform would be significant to attaining economic growth and promised the “largest tax change” since Ronald Reagan. This includes cutting the corporate tax rate to 15%, a “big” middle-class income tax cut and simplifying taxes for the wealthy to spur investment.

This team assembly is the dawn of a new era. An era where Main Street Titans, Industrialists and Capitalists –large and small– return to build and reconstruct a blue-collar balanced economy.

quote:

“Any reductions we have in upper-income taxes will be offset by less deductions, so that there will be no absolute tax cut for the upper-class,” Mnuchin said on CNBC. For example, he said they’ll cap mortgage interest deductability.

In other words, rich guys Mnuchin (estimated net worth $40 million) and Trump ($3.7 billion) called for capping government benefits for rich people.

Multinational corporations are reassessing their own financial interests amid a paradigm many executives within those organizations never imagined. Heck, it’s been so long, many of the younger execs have no frame of reference for such a U.S. economic architecture.

From PE Trump, via Facebook:

quote:

Donald J. Trump at Trump Tower New York
Nov. 30, 2016

(New York, NY) – President-elect Donald J. Trump today announced his intent to nominate Steven Mnuchin as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Treasury, Wilbur Ross as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce and Todd Ricketts as Deputy Secretary of Commerce. This team will be instrumental in implementing the President-elect’s America First economic plan that will create more than 25 million jobs over the next decade.

Mr. Mnuchin has decades of financial management experience including serving as Chief Information Officer at Goldman Sachs as well as finance director for President-elect Trump’s presidential campaign.

“Steve Mnuchin is a world-class financier, banker and businessman, and has played a key role in developing our plan to build a dynamic, booming economy that will create millions of jobs,” said President-elect Trump. “His expertise and pro-growth ideas make him the ideal candidate to serve as Secretary of the Treasury. He purchased IndyMac Bank for $1.6 billion and ran it very professionally, selling it for $3.4 billion plus a return of capital. That’s the kind of people I want in my administration representing our country."

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our great country in this important role. I understand what needs to be done to fix the economy. I look forward to helping President-elect Trump implement a bold economic agenda that creates good-paying jobs and defends the American worker,” said Mr. Mnuchin.

Since 2004, Mr. Mnuchin has been the Founder, Co-Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Dune Capital Management, one of the country’s premier investment firms, specializing in public equity markets, real estate and the entertainment industry. He also founded OneWest Bank Group LLC in 2009 and served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to that, Mr. Mnuchin worked for 17 years at Goldman Sachs, where he oversaw trading in government securities, mortgages, money markets, and municipal bonds and rose to become the company’s Chief Information Officer.

Mr. Mnuchin has extensive experience in investing and financing the entertainment business. He founded RatPac-Dune Entertainment, which has produced wildly successful films, including Avatar, the highest grossing film in history ($2.8B worldwide), American Sniper, the X-Men series and many more.

He is a Member of the Board of The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCA), UCLA Health System Board, New York Presbyterian Hospital, the Los Angeles Police Foundation, and Life Trustee of New York Presbyterian Hospital. Mr. Mnuchin has a bachelor's degree from Yale University.

In addition, President-elect Trump announced his intent to nominate Wilbur Ross as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce, a man renowned for his extraordinary business career and economic expertise.

“Wilbur Ross is a champion of American manufacturing and knows how to help companies succeed. Most importantly, he is one of the greatest negotiators I have ever met, and that comes from me, the author of The Art of the Deal. Together, we will take on the special interests and stand up for American jobs,” said President-elect Trump. “Wilbur knows that cutting taxes for working families, reducing burdensome government regulations and unleashing America's energy resources will strengthen our economy at a time when our country needs to see significant growth. I am proud to nominate him as Secretary of Commerce.”

“I am delighted to have been selected to join President-elect Trump's Cabinet and look forward to working especially closely with Steve Mnuchin to implement the economic programs which we have developed jointly to implement the President-elect's strategy for accelerating our economic growth,” said Mr. Ross.

For 25 years Mr. Ross headed Rothschild Inc. where he built a legacy of saving jobs and restructuring failing companies back to profitability. He has successfully grown businesses in the telecommunications, textiles, steel, and coal industries. In 2000, Mr. Ross started the investment firm WL Ross & Co.

Mr. Ross served as the President-elect’s top economic advisor on trade policy. He agrees with President-elect Trump’s plan to bring back jobs, eliminate the trade deficit and make good deals for America’s workers. He is a world-class negotiator and can be counted on to be a forceful advocate for America's interests in the global economy. He received a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his MBA from Harvard University.

In addition to Mr. Ross’ nomination, President-elect Trump announced his choice of Todd Ricketts, co-owner of the Chicago Cubs, to serve as Deputy Commerce Secretary.

“Todd Ricketts is an immensely successful businessman with unparalleled knowledge of the finance industry,” said President-elect Trump. “As Deputy Commerce Secretary he will help us cut waste and streamline government so that it works for the people of America. The incredible job he and the Ricketts family did in the purchase and turnaround of the Chicago Cubs – one perfect step after another, leading to the World Championship, is what I want representing our people. I am very proud to have him on our team.”

"I am honored that President-elect Donald J. Trump has asked me to serve our country at this critical juncture in our history. Advancing practical policies that promote economic opportunity is critical to making America great again. I'm eager to begin this important work and serving with Wilbur Ross to implement President-elect Trump's economic agenda, which will improve the lives of all Americans," said Mr. Ricketts.

Mr. Ricketts is committed to promoting the values of fiscal responsibility and educating taxpayers on wasteful and excessive government spending. He is the son of Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts and has years of hands-on experience in the finance industry. Like President-elect Trump, Mr. Ricketts will use this knowledge to fix the broken Washington D.C. system, keep jobs in the United States and spur job growth.
Mr. Ricketts has consistently spearheaded efforts to defend the taxpayers' money. Ricketts is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago. In 2016, Mr. Ricketts helped deliver a World Series Championship to the people of Chicago as a key member of the Cubs ownership group.

..proving, once again, that house dems are idiots corrupt idiots unworthy of the trust and confidence of Americans . . . regardless of political affiliation.

quote:

Nancy Pelosi Wins Another Term as Democrat House Leader
By Sundance, Nov. 30. 2016

When you consider that 2/3rd’s of all House members come from New York, California or Illinois the vote to re-elect Nancy Pelosi (134-to-63) takes appropriate context.

The continued polarization of the electorate is playing out as the Democrat party focus even further on the severe left-wing ideology. In essence, the rabid nature of the minority influence within the party is ensuring their continued irrelevance.

To give you some context for this, consider the make up of the U.S. House of representatives when Pelosi took control in 2006, ultimately culminating in the election of Barack Obama in 2008. This is what the nation looked like when Pelosi took control:

Now take a look at the House of Representatives map in 2016:

In 2008 the DNC made a specific decision to go all-in with full throated radicalism and left-wing ideological moonbattery. The social justice warriors took over the advocacy reins of the Democrat party. Progressive purity was the litmus test; climate change and social justice was the cause celeb. Senator Obama became their vehicle, and emotion drives the Democrat brand.

In addition to never proposing a budget, two years later, in order to achieve their healthcare takeover, Democrats killed their own “blue dog” coalition (2010), and suffered the largest electoral defeat in the history of their party.

Seemingly undeterred and simultaneously tone-deaf, in 2011 Democrats doubled down in Madison, Wisconsin and waged a ground battle; again, they lost. Occupy Wall Street (OWS) began smashing windows in Dem strongholds as a visible protest to their ideological defeat and Nancy Pelosi said: “God Bless These People“.

In 2012 and 2014 the Democrat party losses only amplified across America, and one-by-one state legislative houses collapsed under the weight of continual Democrat social justice radicalism.

...For over eight years the ideologically aligned corporate U.S. media has pretended all of this failure didn’t exist – ultimately culminating in their insufferable reality disconnect leading up to the 2016 presidential election and Donald Trump’s victory.

This is an interesting visual political journey.

Do you remember the historic shellacking the Dems took in the 2010 mid-terms? I do; it was an epic political smackdown, and unmistakable evidence that a revolution to begin taking back our country had just occurred at the ballot box.

This clear repudiation of the left and their socialist policies (i.e., a resounding FU from the electorate to 0bama and his minions) is demonstrated quite nicely by the dramatic differences in the '08 and '10 maps below.

There are 3,141 counties in the United States.
Trump won 3,084 of them.
Clinton won 57.

There are 62 counties in New York State.
Trump won 46 of them.
Clinton won 16.

Clinton won the popular vote by approx. 1.5 million votes.

In the 5 counties that encompass NYC, (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Richmond & Queens) Clinton received well over 2 million more votes than Trump. (Clinton only won 4 of these counties; Trump won Richmond)

Therefore these 5 counties alone more than accounted for Clinton winning the popular vote of the entire country.

These 5 counties comprise 319 square miles.
The United States is comprised of 3,797,000 square miles.

When you have a country that encompasses almost 4 million square miles of territory, it would be ludicrous to even suggest that the vote of those who inhabit a mere 319 square miles should dictate the outcome of a national election.

Large, densely populated Democrat cities (NYC, Chicago, LA, etc) don’t and shouldn’t speak for the rest of our country.

This is just a reminder why the Founding Father’s created the Electoral College. It was to prevent the population centers deciding Presidential elections.

Greed. The "media" wanted ratings. Ratings are money.

This predictable greed was partially responsible for getting Donald the nomination while not reporting at all on the other candidates, except to attack them or ask their opinions on Trump!

And we now know from released memos that the Hillary campaign and D leaders ( same thing ) wanted Trump to win the nomination, figuring the clown easiest to beat.

Suckers.

And imho that would have been a successful strategy. It had worked with Obama and McCain. ( chosen by D votes in N.H. )

Except the Democrats chose Hillary the obvious lying felon who promised her loyalists she'd take away the peasant's guns and import hundreds of thousands of refugees to vote Democrat..... forever. ( plus take our tax money & give us more dead in gay night clubs & crank up the rapes to biblical proportions. )

Kellyanne Conway Would Be A Feminist Hero If She Were A Democrat
She's a lawyer, pollster, and business owner. She's a mom of four, and a self-made woman. Why do feminists ignore her? Oh, that's right—she's Republican.

By Julie Kelly, Dec. 1, 2016

If you’re a woman still anguishing over “what to tell our daughters” about the 2016 election, I suggest you point to Kellyanne Conway: the first woman to run a successful presidential campaign. This smart, tough, cool mom of four was the winning campaign manager for the most brutal presidential race in history—and she kept a steely smile on her face the whole time. She’s now poised to become either White House press secretary, or the most sought-after political consultant in the world.

...She faced down an antagonistic, male-dominated media that had declared war acting as a de facto arm of the Clinton campaign. One of the few bright spots leading up to Election Day was watching political commentators lose their cool and credibility trying to rile Conway. It didn’t work (and still isn’t). This lawyer, pollster, and business owner should be the new hero of the post-feminism era: a super-mom who rose to the top of her field and is now, unquestionably, the most influential woman in Washington.

...The Trump-is-a-misogynist meme was the cornerstone of Clinton’s campaign message: a Google search of “Trump” plus “misogynist” yields 579,000 results—not counting the approximately five billion tweets making the same accusation.

...[T]he pearl clutching by the female left went into overdrive after Trump was elected, with women weeping and fearing for their daughters—as if Trump is a one-man Boko Haram ready to swipe them out of their classrooms and turn them into drink cart girls.

Now that President-Elect Trump is appointing women to key posts such as UN Ambassador, Secretary of Education, and Deputy National Security Advisor, their anger is rising rather than abating. If anything, this election has further revealed the hypocrisy of the left—particularly modern-day feminists—who despite all their talk of empowerment, are now exposed as a weak and whiny sisterhood of victims.

So what do we tell our daughters? Be less like Lena and more like Kellyanne.

GOP Senator: Trump's Cabinet Is 'The Dream Team'
By Gabby Morrongiello, Dec. 2, 2016

Georgia Sen. David Perdue lauded President-elect Trump on Thursday for assembling a "dream" Cabinet for his incoming administration...

"This is the dream team coming together. Mnuchin, Ross, Priebus. You see the people going in and out of here," the Georgia Republican told reporters after meeting with the president-elect in Trump Tower. "What this man is doing ... is reaching out to a broad spectrum of Americans to consider for his Cabinet."

"That's a new day compared to what we've seen the last eight years," Perdue said.

...Trump has said he would nominate the following people to serve in his administration so far, and more announcements are expected next week: Gen. James Mattis for defense secretary; Elaine Chao for transportation secretary; Wilbur Ross for commerce secretary; Steve Mnuchin for treasury secretary; Rep. Tom Price for Health and Human Services secretary; Betsy DeVos for education secretary; Sen. Jeff Sessions for attorney general; Rep. Mike Pompeo for CIA director; and Gen. I know no one cares about Taiwan anymore, but;
https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-speaks-taiwans-pr esident-financial-times-215242627.html
"U.S. President-elect Donald Trump spoke by phone on Friday with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, a transition team spokeswoman said, the first such contact by a president-elect since President Jimmy Carter adopted a one-China policy in 1979."

Taiwan (or the Republic of China) is the Constitutional Republic that managed to survive the communist fascism that destroyed China mainland in the 1940s (I like traditional Chinese culture (pre cultural revolution), and Taiwan has WAY more traditional culture intact than China mainland). Its very existence is a big middle finger to communist China. It was recognized as the "real" China until 1979 when the western world decided that they'd rather deal with the a communist nation than a Constitutional Republic.

While I was in Taiwan I saw a few young men wearing T-shirts that said, "I'm CHINESE AND NOT COMMUNIST!"

Taiwan contributes a good portion of the worlds semiconductors and supports a big chunk of the world's sea freight. It's a country that the world has forgotten about and crapped on - they don't get to enter athletes in the Olympics, they don't get to hold seats at international meetings, they can't even get slots at international expo's that have nothing to do with Government.

BUT, they are alive and well. Their economy is better than mainland China, their quality of life is higher, the people are bigger and healthier than their Chinese cousins (seems communism hasn't served the folk of China all that well).

The US SHOULD have official ties with Taiwan. I hope Trump recognizes this and bolsters US/ROC ties.

They were BENT on making it sound us if Trump initiated the call, which he clearly did not.

Taiwan is an awesome economic and technological force. We should absolutely be associated with them, and f#ck what China thinks about it.

Leverage Maneuver – Trump Talks Openly With Taiwan’s President
By Sundance, Dec. 2, 2016

Ok, this one strategic maneuver has just pegged my too-much-winning needle on max overdrive. Donald Trump took a congratulatory phone call from the President of Taiwan, and now the Chinese will be apoplectic.

Those of you who have been with us for a while, will note our arguments against China’s MFN (Most Favored Nation) trade status have continually fallen on deaf ears within DC. Why? Because they are political ears paid to remain necessarily deaf, while various Chinese national interests have taken influence over our legislative priorities on trade and commerce.

Rule #1 in any trade deal is to fully understand who is the customer within the equation. The U.S. market is the biggest trade customer on this entire beautiful blue planet. We hold all the leverage. Access, or denial of access, to this market is the leverage. [emphasis in original - FB]

[…] “President-elect Trump spoke with President Tsai Ing-wen of Taiwan, who offered her congratulations,” according to a readout of the call released by Trump’s transition team.

“During the discussion, they noted the close economic, political, and security ties” between Taiwan and the United States, the statement continued. “President-elect Trump also congratulated President Tsai on becoming President of Taiwan earlier this year.”

The call, first reported by the Financial Times, is the first time a US president has directly spoken with Taiwan’s leadership in more than 30 years. The White House was not made aware of the call until after it occurred, according to The New York Times. (link)

THAT's one of my favorite parts right there.

Sure, the politics of them reaching out is awesome. The potential for trade is cool. But shutting out the WH is the best symbol of what's being done in DC right now and gives me some hope that we might, actually, drain that swamp.

I grew up right outside the beltway; dad was retired Navy and transitioned to government service while I was growing up so it was part of my life and even then...even as young as I was...it was just...GROSS. These people are slime. They may not start that way, but once they get "in"...they get turned. They become like the rest of the slime. And it's time to end it.

It's a shame we lost dad in February - he, Cdr-USN(Ret), CPA, and all-around good business guy, would be on cloud nine watching all this stuff happening now!

1/20/17 can't get here soon enough!

I wonder if there is any regulation on presidential communication, and who knows about it?

Can we theorize about the possible future, if we piss off China mainland? If we back them into a corner, what do they do about it? Who do they turn to? (we know that playing nice with the democratic/capitalist world is against everything the Politburo believes in, unless they're doing it superficially to earn a profit).

Who are China's allies?

Vlad and the Ruskies seem to be pro-Trump and pro US+Trump, from earlier media coverage. It seems like Trump would be able to play his cards so that Russia would side with us and not China.

North Korea hates us, we know that, but for all of their intentions they have so little projection. China is supposed to be friendly toward DPRNK but that's questionable. And I think NK has enough enemies who would love to beat down the regime in a heartbeat.

Pakistan? Saudi Arabia?

Edit; There has been (at a minimum) speculation that China was providing funding and support to Al Qaeda, and channeling funding through Pakistan.
Would we see an increase in funding the Islamic State?
Just trying to wargame.

China's foreign ministry said Beijing lodged "solemn representations" with the U.S. over the call.

"It must be pointed out that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory," Geng Shuang, a ministry spokesman, said in a statement. "The government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing China."

Washington (CNN) — Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein said Saturday she is dropping her bid for a statewide election recount in Pennsylvania.

Citing a major cost placed on voters due to a court ruling that says the voters requesting the recount must pay a $1 million bond, Stein also said she will be making a "major announcement" regarding her next steps in the recount process at a 10 a.m news conference Monday outside Trump Tower in New York.

Such a silly and transparent maneuver from the beginning.
No wonder people hate politicians.

Local new is telling us that the recount in MI is going to cost the counties a lot of money. Apparently the cost to the requester of the recount is only a fraction of the actual cost. It's one thing when there may be a real question about the results, but this is just stupidity on display.

Honestly, the whole recount process fails to make sense to me on many levels. You have an election with a slim margin of a few hundred votes. You then recount and manipulate until you reverse that with a margin of only a hand full of votes, and we are supposed to feel that we have gotten a more accurate result? This sort of stupidity has got to be done away with.
