Another note for the "caliber snobs", I had a 5-shot .22LR derringer I gave to my wife.

That little pistol killed 2 people before the State of Alabama decided to keep it.

No doubt a .22 can kill quite effectively. The problem is that even when hitting vital organs, you can still have a very pissed off bad guy who is very capable of doing you harm. While this is true of any bullet, it's far more likely with smaller lighter loads. It's just hard to cheat on the physics. Again, a .22 in your pocket is far better protection than the .45 you left at home. It's all compromises.

I want to know why the .22 felt it had to kill?

If it was minority rage, then we should be sympathetic.

If the pistol was a Jihadi, I am against it, but Obama would call it work place violence.

If the pistol was psychotic, then the Leftist have to support it, while insisting that psych records be secret, and instead we use the anti-terrorist watch list. Which you can't look at, protest or change.

Which is it? did the pistol have a bad childhood?

The fun thing about that Colt .25 is that it can be concealed in your hand.

Wonder what they are worth ....

Court,
Colt 1908 Hammerless, .25 ACP, 1920. On GunBroker opening bid would be $550.00. Same on ArmsList is 350 to 450. Unless you want it in nickel with pearl, 630 to 1,500 on GunBroker.

Colt Juniors in .25 are being bid up to four or five hundred on GB.

Always a better deal to be found somewhere. But, I know you don't like haggling.

Patrick - first wife used the pistol I gave her, on herself.
One shot behind the ear.
It took some time but I got it back from Colorado Bureau of investigations.

I loaned it to a friend going on a road trip and he killed a man in Alabama who was assaulting his girlfriend.
He did 6 years in State for that.
Haven't seen the gun since.

I've yet to get a true mousegun. Not sure I want one.

Right now it's all about freedoms.

I've got a KelTec P32. It's smaller than my wallet. It's light enough for gym shorts.

My brother in law makes fun of it, but will not let me shoot him with it.

Read a great editorial on power needed for hunting.

Back in the 1930's a .30-30 was more than enough for any N. American game. Somehow deer have mutated so a .338 Lapua is needed to hunt a critter the size of a large dog.

Humans got tougher too. The .32 acp was fine for self defense although police carried the much more powerful .38 S&W Special, which was a decent jump in performance over the old .38 Colt. .357 magnums were the overkill specialists gun, good for bear or killing Ford's.

The .38 Super was allegedly the ticket for shooting engine blocks and through cars to stop the next Bonnie and Clyde.

And while as a kid using .22 lr on prairie poodles was tough, you had to crawl to within a hundred yards, slowly to keep from spoofing the whole colony, the rich adults with the big .22 Hornet could set up out of nervous range and pop away.

Now a .22-250 or a 6.5 Grendal is needed to reliably put down a hand sized killer zombie rodent! ; )

You're always better off using a .44 special than a .32 if terminal ballistics is the end all be all, but in the real world the Keltec in your pocket beats the Bulldog in the gun safe.

Btw a good buddy carries a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog for daily use. He started using it to shoot major in early IPSC competition. Big guy and suits work for him. Speed strip for reloading in pants pocket.

Calls gun nuts liars, then lies repeatedly, employs deceptive reporting, and neglects to inform that the murder rate in America fell by half all the while carry laws/permits and AR15s and gun ownership in general proliferated

Yep. Found that earlier today.

The oft repeated "to prevent tyranny" and that there's no stopping the government. It's a poor and baseless argument.

There's the usual strawman argument and the warped concept of "common sense."

The facts are really on the side of gun owners. The leftists have their hypotheticals and project their own insecurities.

No, we own what we own because we can and it's not the governments business to deny that. 80 plus years has layered plenty of "reasonable restrictions" upon us as is for a right that was not to be infringed.

And yes, you can have flame throwers, tanks, jets, bazookas, attack helicopters and all that if you can afford it.

The whole things reads of the usual hypocritical drivel.

Everything has inherent risks. Far more children drown in pools than are killed by guns, though people accept that. Heck, an unsupervised bucket of water or bathtub poses the same ris of drowning. The gun is scary looking and carries a make believe stigma due to years of propaganda.

Those that accept the risk purchase a gun to fulfill whatever lawful purpose their heart desires. It's our right just as it is theirs to speak against it.

"Gun control" in the U.S. in all its forms has proven statistically insignificant in affecting crime rates. This is corroborated by FBI statistics as well as Obama's own CDC study.

There are at least as many legitimate self defense uses with guns as there are criminal acts.

With the latest gun control push, the Democrats essentially want the people to give up due process for their failures. What sense does that make?

The centrists/leftists/progressives/liberals/socialist s can continue talking in circles. Their hypocrisy, self doubt, and mistrust is readily apparent.

The revisionists are the worst. You can't reinterpret history for your own political point of view...unless you're talking to a room full of idiots.

It just fails the common sense test. If small arms sequestered within a populace wasn't a problem for a modern military force, Iraq and Afghanistan would be solved problems. And Mexico wouldn't have any problem with drug lords. It's just a series of stupid assertions.

Yeah...it's like nobody has ever heard of asymmetric warfare...but that's besides the point.

The main contention which is still quite valid is that people are responsible for their own security, and have the natural right to do so.

2nd for dummies:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW_noXjj6w8

I'm not understanding the angle of the revisionists...I mean there's college educators and supposed constitutional scholars that misrepresent the 2nd. Willfull ignorance? It's baffling.

It reminds me of the sanitized history books for young children. "Well son, this is what really happened..."

The left is not even crafty about it. They're either truly indoctrinated, truly ignorant, or truly dishonest...perhaps a combination.

You can't spell Leftist without Lie.

The root of weapons "control" goes back to the Kings of Old. Japan is a great example, only the aristocracy and their private armies could have swords, naginatas, a whole range of decent, deadly weapons they forbid the Peasants.

In America "gun Control" was Negro control, and still is. The Party of the Klan passed laws forbidding slave from having guns. ( That actually makes sense. An Armed Slave isn't a slave for long ) Then the freed slaves. Then the children of the freed slaves. Why? Because armed men are not safe for the Klan to go lynch.

It's really obvious. Highest crime rates are focused on areas under the control of the Party of the Klan. Anti-gun, high minority concentration, bad schools, deliberate ghettos of Democrat Votes and Dependency.

Then, after Woodrow Wilson, the growing influence of the Marxist Cults and the sneaky Aristocracy that at heart are the same as the Old Bad Days, they just lie about it as a Dogma in their corrupt religion of power.

So we have "RIGHTS CONTROL" from the Part of the Klan, the party of "pretend we don't worship Stalin", and basically, the most murderous evil cult in History. Authoritarianism without limits. The use of fake Psychiatry to punish and terrorize. Fake Science to justify ANYTHING.

Theocracy without the grace of any God but human greed and Ambition. Satan giggles. Loki crows. Baal is jealous.

But you can't push the people who are not ignorant sheep onto buses to be sent to re-education camps like in Vietnam if they have guns. Doesn't work.

First things first.

And they've had a century long propaganda campaign culminating in what can only be called mass insanity in schools where the mention of a gun gets a small child publicly, massive overkill to spark terror, punished.

The ignorant are many. Try and be nice while you attempt to break their conditioning. They've been lied to so long, and you are heretics to them.

Gun laws, not to mention immigration laws, didn't stop this killer:

http://hotair.com/archives/2016/07/02/another-mass -shooting-by-an-illegal-immigrant-whod-been-deport ed-multiple-times/

So we have to keep law abiding citizens from having guns, but ignore that these animals are quite comfortable with breaking any law they have contact with.

No stopping the government?

I'm no match for them? I'll be the judge of that. His straw man assumes that every member of the military will take up arms against his fellow citizens, against the oaths they have sworn.

The author of that article is a liar, no doubt. Owns guns, has permit, etc, yada blah blah blah.

He hates AR-15's. He's definitely a coward.

By best estimates there are 300000000 guns in 100000000 hands in America and 10500000 are the evil black rifles they want us to not have.

With the participation rates in the various bans/registrations in the nation being 3-15%...there's some wishful thinking going on there.

Looks like the kid is in for his first 22 rifle.

Initially he was considering a bolt action and I was going to get a CZ. He changed his mind after shooting my 15-22 and wants a Mini-14 tactical style semi auto.

I found a nice clean wood used stocked 10/22 for him like thus:

I even got the wife's reluctant permission. The stock is going to be shortened one inch and a rubber butt pad fitted, it's going to get some peep sights, and a flash hider for flair and because freedom.

He wanted a 22 pistol first, but tough stuff. He needs to get a little better with the ones he's got, first.

Dare I say publicly, I'm glad that we aren't forced to use "military" style ammo in our guns. You know, that scary stuff designed to be sooper lethal!

I do find it interesting that you seldom hear about the ammo choices of the shooters. I guess the gun control nuts don't understand ammo choices.
