I'm posting this for a non-board member. 07 XB12R X3 I realize this problem might be related to riders new to Buells. A friend recently purchased the above mentioned Buell and she reported that her bike would intermittently stall from a stop. She asked me to take a look, which I did, why pass a chance to ride a new Buell right? So I took it for a spin around the dealership parking lot and it ran fine as far as I could tell. I got off and she told me I was doing it wrong. Soooo, while in neutral from idle whenever she lightly rolled the throttle sure enough the engine would sputter then stall. This she was able to repeat several times. She said there where two other 07 Buells in the shop doing the same thing. This condition persisted even after several TPS resets and a new ECM which were my first suggestions. |

My 07 12R is doing almost the same thing first thing in the morning, really have to feather the throttle when I pull out into traffic while it burps and farts until I'm past the first traffic light about 1/2 mile away. I let it warm up for a couple minutes, and it'll stall if I roll it on really lightly too. 70-75 degrees on the AM ride, +90 when I bring it home. 250 miles on it today. |

I just bought an 07 XB12Scg yesterday and my bike does the same thing. When I'm at a stop sign I have to ease into the throttle. If I flick the throttle quick it will burp and backfire a little. I noticed when I'm cruising at about 50-60 mph sometimes it will cough a little also. If I grab a different gear it will go away. It is such a fun bike to ride when I'm in the throttle flying through the corners but the boggy throttle off the start kinda stinks. Does anyone think the race kit would fix this problem? |

Hate to simply affirm the aforementioned, but my two week old 2007 XB12Scg is exhibiting similar symptoms. Throttle response from a start is sketchy, making slow turns dicey. It also dies on occasion when I come off the throttle and pull in the clutch coming to a stop without engine braking. It's going to the shop on Saturday because the speedometer has malfunctioned; if they provide any valuable feedback I'll advise. |

I would advise to check your idle..I turned mine up about a half or three quarter turn and it has cleared up a LOT of the burpyness. Granted it still does it a little bit but not nearly as much as it did.My dealer had it set at 1000 rpms and I now have it so the needle floats just over the 1000 mark and it made a BIG difference. I had heard from a buddy that people were complaining about the dealer setting it too low so I tried it and it has worked to a degree. The buell owners manual says your idle should be from 1050 to 1150 rpms. I have mine around 11-1150. Try it out and let me know what you think. |
