I was once told the following: "When riding a motorcycle, you are either falling, or have fallen."

I was in the right lane, passing a pickup that was pulling a trailer. He decided he needed to turn right at that moment. He didn't signal, but just moved over. He was also braking, so my attempt to brake didn't do a lot of good. I put my thumb down on my horn, but he kept coming. Fortunately, the road was not bordered with a regular curb, but what looked like a median ramp.

I took this slight ramp and landed in soft, grassy dirt. Because of the sudden change in traction, I quickly fell on my left side, and so did my Blast. Unfortunately, I was still on my Blast, so my left leg took the brunt of the weight as the bike and I skidded to a stop in the grass. Fortunately, I had taken off most of my speed, so I just ended up with some really colorful bruises.

As I lay there in the grass, the pickup continued to pull into the gas station, as the driver was completely oblivious to what had just happened. I pulled my leg out from under my bike, and started to walk over to him and tell him just what he did. As I walked, my leg began to hurt. By the time I got there, I was yelling and cussing at him. He seemed to feel pretty bad, since he never saw me.

I calmed down, and waited for the police to arrive. My Blast now has no left turn signal, a bent handlebar, damaged windshield, bent windshield bracket, and quite the shiner on the gas tank cover.

I think it turned out pretty good, considering what could have happened if I hadn't gotten out of the way of his trailer.

Now I have to post what happened when I took my Blast to the nearest dealer for a damage estimate...

Glad you're mostly ok.

Blasts crash pretty well. Sounds like you could ride yours away.

I bet dealing with the dealer was worse than getting run off the road. Glad you are OK.

Buy the parts you need online from DaveS @ Appleton Buell or go aftermarket for the bars, mirrors, signals, etc.

All I need to do so it will pass inspection is get a new signal light. I'll probably just fix the old one for now, and order stuff after I get the insurance check. I'm going to go back to the old fly screen, since I don't have to ride in the winter time. I'll just stick with stock, except for the mirrors. My left mirror is bent down, but not broken, and now I can see behind me much better!

The dealer was downright funny! I never refused to pay. I just kept saying, "show me where I signed something that said I would have to pay." They answered me calmly, but I could see the anger seething from their eyes! My wife got annoyed at me when I laughed too much at home.

Joey,
I've never dealt with H-D/Buell dealerships, or Buell warranties. What was the dealer wanting you to pay for?

They wanted me to pay for 1.4 hours of labor for them to tell me what was wrong. See Dealer Ratings section for details.

I just did...amazing you were treated that way.
I used to approve warranty work for Suzuki.
Even working up a total loss crash, the part by part estimate would only take 1.5 hours.
Those boys must be taking extra special care estimating your eight part loss.
