I am the original owner of a 2000 X1. Due to the fact that I have three kids I did not get out on it very often after I bought it. I started riding it to work to save money on gas. I have been riding it daily for about 4 weeks now. My question is… What is up with the crankcase breather hose puking oil all over the place? Is this typical? There is oil all over the bike and that is the only place that I can tell it is coming from. The bike only has 4,000 miles on it. Can anyone help me out?

How much oil do you have in it? If you really 'flog' it, even at normal oil levels, you'll get some spooge. If it overfilled it'll spit gobs at you.

Cheap way to check it is change your fluids and don't fill the oil bag to spec -- near spec, but just below. I leave about 3 ounces of oil in the final bottle and it really reduces the spooge.

I'd also look at rerouting your hoses,,,you can go catch cans (produced or your own solution,) I have mine in free-flow mode (yea, saving mother nature.) There's a ton of info in the KV about this very thing.

Good luck!

Sounds like a typical ‘problem’ with Buells. I have learned the hard way about overfilling, what a mess. The temperature here has been pretty hot, 90’s, would that add to the problem.
