I have ~maybe~ eliminated the stator as the source of my non-charging problems (see a recent post), and I'm now wondering about rumors \ I've heard of an inline fuse between the battery and the voltage regulator? All the wiring and connections I've found appear OK, visually, as does the VR, FWIW. Is there such a fuse, and if so where might it be? |

Find and download service manual for your motorcycle. Then find the motorcycle wiring diagram in the service manual and check how the VR is connected to the battery. If it has a fuse in between the VR and the battery you can find that fuse under the motorcycle seat in the fuse box. The fuse box likely has a diagram sticker on it with fuses names and values so you can find the fuse you are looking for.

Yeah, I have the service manual, and the electrical diagram does show a fuse between the battery and VR. There is a 30A fuse labeled "Battery" in the underseat fuse box, and it tests OK with my ohmeter. I was just wondering if there might be another fuse somewhere that I haven't found. Your regulator grounds through its body so make sure where the bolt goes through, the bolt and area on the back of the regulator are all super clean. If thats not it then there is a 30 amp automatic circuit breaker that could be the culprit. |
