My 2009 XB12Ss is running very poorly (on 1 cylinder I think). I'm getting ECM error code 23 and when I log data, the parameter "Inj1 ADC" steadily goes from 0 to 100 (it stays at 0 when running properly). Also, CDiag1 goes to 4. Can anyone help me understand what these parameters are (I believe Inj1 ADC is an injector feedback but I don't really know what that's telling me) or help me diagnose this issue? When I checked the injector resistance a month ago it was within spec (~12ohms or something?).
Thanks

What do you use to read the trouble codes? If you use Bluetooth dongle and ECM Droid program you can check injectors using ECM Droid. Remove the right side airscoop and perform Rear Injector check and then Front Injector check with ECM Droid. If it works you should hear clicking sound (it is pretty quiet though, so listen carefully). If one injector is stuck (probably the Front Injector since you have trouble code 23) you will not hear clicking sound during test.

If this is the case you can try to unstuck the stuck injector. Turn the motorcycle OFF. No need to disassemble the airbox, just keep the right aircoop removed, find or buy a Ford injector plug in your local auto store or online. Then attach long leads to the plug you bought. Detach the plug from the stuck injector reaching it from the removed right side airscoop area and attach your new plug with long wires to the stuck injector. Tap the plug leads on 12V battery (MAKE SURE YOU MATCH THE POLARITY OF THE INJECTOR WHEN YOU TAP IT ON THE BATTERY!!!!). Make sure the battery is fully charged. When the injector start doing click sound when you tap injector leads on the battery- it is unstuck and you are good to go. If it does not unstuck it you can try to tap the battery with leads crossing polarity a couple times, it will invert the magnetic field of the injector coil and will press the injector mechanism opposite way which may help to unstuck it if the correct polarity tapping on the battery will not work.

If your Buelll XB runs on one cylinder it will be pretty obvious, it should sound absolutely different, like Buell Blast. It looks like you are not sure if it runs on one cylinder. You can post video here to show us how it runs and sounds.

I do not know what "Inj1 ADC" means. Try to Google it first.

It also might be broken of scuffed injector wire if it does not do clicking sound during injector test on ECM Droid. You can check injector wires removing the plug from injector and from ECM and check correlated wires with tester, with removed ECM and Injector plugs also check with your tester the injector wires are not shortened on the ground. Check wiring diagram from service manual for your 2009 buell XB to find the injector pins on the ECM plugs.

Also read 2008 Buell XB Electrical Manual about error 23 troubleshooting procedure. This is actually the most effective and fastest way to figure out the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tested both injectors with ECMDroid and heard them both click. Then I started the bike and let it idle and got no error codes and Inj1 ADC stayed at 0.

Neither terminal on the front injector harness had continuity to battery negative.

The only thing worse than a problem is an intermittent problem...

So the motorcycle worked as supposed to after you checked injectors and the error 23 disappeared? Maybe you unstucked the injector when you checked it.

Or if the injector circuit has bad wire you might recovered normal contact or shortage after you unplugged and plugged the plugs for checking. You can start motorcycle and wiggle the injector wires near the injectors where you can reach them and maybe near the ECM. If wiggle test does not affect the engine work maybe the wires are OK.

As you can see on troubleshooting scheme from Electrical Manual you have to perform wiggle test in case everything works as supposed to to find the intermittent.

The worst case is if the intermittent is inside the ECM, but it might be rare situation.
