2007 XB12R
7,000 miles
Open air box, K&N filter, breather re route, Buelltooth race map, Micron headers and exhaust

I bought the bike a month ago that’s been sitting in storage for 3+ years. Sorta knew what I was getting into by reading up on forums before wrenching on it.
Started with the fuel pump which was completely shot. Bought a quantum fuel pump/regulator and new o rings all around. Reinstalled the pump and the bike fired but wouldn’t hold an idle. From there I changed the plugs and fluids. Took apart the injectors and cleaned them. Check all grounds and fuses. Made sure the IAC and intake snorkel were attached. Fired up and same issue. Read some more and decided to try the tps. Bought a buelltooth and no codes came up. Reset the tps by the directions and tried again. Still no problem firing and seemed to hold rpms better but no consistent idle. I thought maybe a quick ride would help but the bike would want to die under load after I put it in gear and let off the clutch with some throttle.

I’ve pretty much reached my skill level in troubleshooting and figure it’s a fuel pressure issue ( I read the pressure regulator in the kit I bought may be lacking) or may have something to do with the o2 sensor but I know very little about that being my first fuel injected bike. I know the community here is very knowledgeable and would like any help before I throw a bunch of money at HD to take a look at it.

If you use the fuel pressure regulator from the rebuild kit you bought it might have wrong pressure rate. I found it when I replaced fuel pump with regulator from the kit I bought on eBay. The fuel pump from kit is OK but the regulator from the kit provided less pressure than it required according Buell service manual specification. I ended up buying and installing new OEM pressure regulator and pressure went to normal after this.

You can check fuel pressure with pressure gauge or you can install permanently digital fuel pressure gauge like I did to monitor fuel delivery system health.

Also if you have Bluetooth dongle set the AFV to 100 after replacing the fuel pump, the spark plugs, the intake seals, TPS reset and any another fixes you did. If you did not do this the Buell at least first 30 minutes will throw wrong amount of fuel in the engine according old AFV which might be way off 100 because of it compensated the malfunction to keep fuel mixture correct before you fixed it. Once you fixed the bike the old AFV value is wrong for this setup and it might throw too much fuel for example if you do not set the AFV to 100 and it will flood the spark plugs or cause you motorcycle runs like crap or does not run at all.

Thank you. I still haven’t replaced intake seals assuming they were ok. I burned the race map today and afv level is set to 100. Reset tps again and no start now. Guessing plugs are fouled. I’ll pull them tomorrow to check then try testing fuel pressure and see where to go from there.

Also where can I find oem pressure regulator. I’ve had no luck anywhere

Before pulling that fuel pump I would check the fuel pressure. It should be within the service manual spec. The idle problem assuming the fuel pump and TPS and reset are correct points to leaking intake seals / air getting past the intake seals. You mentioned above in the description about the IAC. 07 didn't have a Idle air controller.

tips from an old harley wrench.. use the KISS principle, FIRST tool should always be the factory service manual. Ya just throwin dinero at it when the kiss might tell ya bad gas..intake seals should never go more than 15k,wise to have quality set on the shelf, but not your problem as it would pop and snort out the efi just like a carb, easy check with it runnin just spray carb cleaner, wd 40, even an unlit LP bottle and any idle change will pinpoint a leak.. i am a tuber guy but the german built rotax{?} motor is quality, don;t take it to a stealership. theres no rocket science in these, ya just a newbie, lol walk away pop a top and do somethin else.if ya cant think on what to do earn some brownies points with the worse half and prep/cook dinner,lol....you'll get it
