This is the second 1125CR I have owned and the third Buell for me. Awesome machines. I recently picked up an 1125CR with a Sep08 build date that only has 900 miles on it. Garaged kept, truly showroom condition. It would not start. No fuel pump sound with ignition on. Fuel pump removed and cleaned. All fuel drained. Fuel pump came to life immersed in mineral spirit bath. Ran strong. Good Fuel pressure now both off and running after re-installed. Replaced the Rotor with the EBR reworked unit. Stator looked good. New "series" regulator. Brand new battery. Bike fired right up. Perfect voltage, fresh battery. Out on the road, bike stalls and hesitates between 3,800-4,300rpms. Momentary loss of power like chopping of fuel or ignition. No change at all in volts during the event. Awesome power and feel anywhere else. Ran up to 100mph with no issues. Pulled hard and strong. Just hates running in the above rpm range. Pulled air filter and plenum cover and inspected TB,s for anything that could have come loose. All is as new.

Should I suspect a dead spot on the TPS? I did the factory TPS reset per the manual. No change. Is it possible that since this bike has not been ridden and never to the shop for anything, the problem could be from the stock ecm flash? I've read about earlier surging issues cleared up through a newer flash? I'm really at an impasse on this and just hoping someone has had a similar problem? It is not ridable since cruising around is in the above stated rpm range. Original owner never complained of this symptom during its first 900 miles.

If it were me, I wouldn't trust a fuel pump that had to be brought back to life by being immersed in mineral spirits, at least not if I later had "maybe fuelpumpish" symptoms. Especially given you can probably replace just the pump part of it for well under $50.

I don't have concrete facts to back up this position, just intuition.

And of course I'd put a couple of tanks of gas with fuel system treatment through it and fresh plugs in it if it had been sitting before declaring it officially broken.

I thought about that and actually had a new fuel pump standing by. The original was slightly gummed up had so little time on it. It came back after sitting for years and ran so consistent and strong I decided to use it. All pump pressures are normal. If I got surging in any other range out side of 3,700-4,300 I would definitely suspect the pump. Bike runs perfect outside this range? Up to 100mph! Doubtful it would run like that with a bad fuel pump. That's the weird thing. Now I'm wondering if the solenoid valve is getting an errant signal from the ECM in that range thereby causing the TB's to momentarily close. I'll try disconnecting the solenoid cable and see if that was it. Then possibly swap out the TPS after a new ECM flash. After that, I'm completely at a loss.
