My 2006 Uly keeps getting error codes and light. The error reads "fan shorted to ground or open" when hooking up ECMSpy. The fan runs full on when grounding in accordance with the manual. The manual says to replace the ECM. Chafing from the seat is apparent on the post on the left of the ECM and on the black plug, so I'm assuming the inside board has loose pins. EBR has no ECM for an 06 Uly with stock exhaust. Any good used ones out there? Or should I spring $368 plus installation for one from Harley?

I would not pay $368 for any ECM!

You mentioned that the fan runs full speed when grounded. What about with the engine running? Does the fan run continuously, or does it never run at all?

Have a 2006 Uly with 30,000 miles. Bought this past year and after putting 1,000 miles on it would start fine and run fine. After approximately 25 miles engine would sputter and backfire. Backfire would increase with mileage then quit altogether. TPS, ignition sensor, intake air sensor, spark plugs have been replaced with no change. After talking to various centers no one is willing/able to "flash" an ECM. Machine has K&N intake and Jardine muffler. Live in the upstate of SC and am at my wit's end. Any ideas?????

Roadgod a quick google search for hot not start or backfire will pull up more threads but here are a couple to read through.

Your problem is identical to my 06 Uly, 26,000 mi. New computer solved the issue. Most likely
under seat heat cooked yours like it did mine.
Bike would die after 15-20 min, then restart after short rest. last time it happened I pulled the seat, restarted and pulled on things and as soon as I tapped on the ecm the engine would sputter. I did pay $368 plus $80 for new ecm and install and don`t regret it one bit. My bike runs like new.
