In not getting any fire to my front cylinder on my 05 XB12s. New coil, plugs and wires are good. Any ideas? |

If I understand the system correctly, the coil 'fires' the front and rear cyls based on signals from the cam position sensor. Would do to check the CPS and the associated wiring from the CPS to the ECM.
And you may now have a perfectly usable coil as a spare.

Dave, Here's the coil i replaced. Obvious crack on the front cylinder side. Suppose it's on to the wire tracing. Could the cracked/shorting coil have affected the computer with permanent damage, i wonder. I'm carburetor/points tuner. These computer technologies have me somewhat stumped.

OK, maybe you don't have a spare now, LOL.
And I am a points and condenser guy. I even remember magnetos . . .
If not already at hand, a service manual is necessary. A must have.
I believe the bike supplies constant battery voltage to the coil. The ECM monitors the CPS, and at the appropriate signal grounds either the front or rear half of the coil, as necessary.
Since you have spark to the rear cyl, checking the wire that controls the front cyl would be the place to start. Each connector, poss rubbed wire, loose ground, ect.
On my '08 TT, the wiring diagram shows the front coil as pin 3 at the coil, the yellow w/blue (Y/BE) wire. It goes to pin 34 and 35 on the black connector at the ECM. Pins 18, 16, 24, and 33 are ECM grounds on the black connector.
The '08 diagram shows the wires to the ECM from the crank (in my bike) sensor as green/white and black/blue, to pins 18 and 26 in the grey ECM connector.
Your harness may or may not use the same colors and pins, as the system was changed in the '08 and up models.
