Good day.

I'm from south africa. I bougth a xb9r witch was standing for about 3 years got it well. But the other day was a bad rain storm and had to ride in it the next morning I had to jump start itand on my way to work it started to back fire and died. The clocks isn't coming on and the battery is dead. It is a new battery. To it to bike shop but don't seem to find the problem.

Please help. I really like this bike and like riding it.

Are the battery cables tight?

Have a try after putting the battery on a charger or try another battery.
It's possible that you got a bad monday morning one!

Thank for the reply. I will try a different battery tomorrow. But does the battery effect the clocks? What I mean is ref counter and speedometer doesn't do there normal thing and the lights on the is very low you almost can't see them?

First question i always ask , why was it standing for 3 yrs?

Get the battery fully charged , it's impossible to diagnose anything without a known good battery.

A battery so flat will likely affect the clocks , remember the headlight is trying to suck power that is'nt there , not to mention other Ancillaries.

How hands on are you? Do you have any electrical experience , the reason i ask is to know whether we can walk you through this at all.

I'm in P.E. BTW.

Stay away from bike shops unless they are Buell "specialists" and even then....... this ain't no riceburner!!

The 3 years standing still does not have to mean something!
When i bought my 04 xb 12s in 07 it was also standing still most of the time with a empty battery. (two owners before me did not have enough time to ride i guess!?

If there isn't enough life in the battery it effects a lot of things on the xb bikes!

If you can ,try another good battery and with cables tight (also on the frame)

If still not working ,have a look at the grey relays in the fuse box.
Listen if they click ,they are all the same ,so you can swap them with each other.

Did it perform good with riding in the rain?
Or started all this trouble after the rain?

Hi guys. Sorry for taking so long to respond back. Been busy at work. And thank you for all the help. It was only the battery that was faulty. Like you said it was a bad Monday more problems.
