My 2010 Long makes an irritating chirping sound. It runs and rides fine, but under very light load, it'll chirp like a bird around 2000rpm. I hear it when moving with the throttle closed, and I can also hear it while stopped and in neutral by gently revving the engine past 2000rpm and letting it drop back to idle. It chirps through a few hundred rpm on the way up, then again on the way back down through the same rev range. It does NOT do this when revving sharply, cruising with the throttle open, or accelerating. What the heck could this be?

Check drive belt tension. Probably a bit loose.

Gabby_duck, you're a genius! You've fixed the issue via practical application of Murphy's law. The noise is spontaneously gone! I tried to record it this morning, but couldn't get the bike to squeak.

I'm happy it's quiet, but somehow I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Machines don't usually fix themselves.
