I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I just installed a new battery, and the fan runs(without the key in the ignition) but there's nothing else working.

Look at the wire bundle going over the battery terminal under the seat, and see if there are any microscopic nicks in the wire shorting it out to something. No guarantee that's it, but it could be, and that is an easy check.

I got into the fuse box, and the key switch fuse was blown, bought a box of fuses, popped 3 of them trying different things. Next I swapped the starter and key switch relays and the fan stopped and turning the key on worked normally. Ended up driving out to HD to pick up a new micro relay for $6 and I got no problems.

That was easy! An odd symptom, but it's odd to have the relay coil short out (which is what sounds like happened)

Amazing. I just replaced my battery today on my XB9SX and am having the same issue. Searched Web, found this tread, checked fuse and it is blown. Tried switching the relays, but fan still runs when I connect the battery.

Did you replace the fuse? Did the new one blow?

Yes, the fuse blew again. I found a relay, only one, at a parts store. Went through a pack of fuses, replacing each relay, one at a time. Now I have a different fuse billowing. Getting 2 more relays to try replacing all of them. My fan still runs constantly, so I removed the fuse for the fan for now.

Replaced all three relays. Fan still run constantly (removed fan fuse for now). No problem turning key on. When I turn on the ignition switch (kill switch), as soon as the priming noise stops, it blows the Ignition fuse.
