Nothing personal, but please don't ride it in my neighborhood. I am beyond tired of listening to straight pipes.

What Reep said!
There's a time and place for everything!
I personally have had it with street racers and idiots who think it's ok to misbehave on the streets at 2 am in the morning disturbing peace loving folks!!

The open pipe will not make your bike any faster or more powerful, if anything things will get worse! And your fuel consumption will go up!

I was a little unconfortable posting that comment originally, but there is an ironic justice to it.

Somebody posts a simple question, and I drop in and dump on their thread with an unasked for and probably unwelcome opinion.

Which would be a kind of behavior I try to avoid in my day to day life.

But it's pretty much the same as me walking down the street to get Ice Cream in downtown Lebanon where I live, trying to have a nice conversation with a friend or someone in my family, and having to stop until somebody with loud "lookatmelookatmelookatme" straight pipes finishes driving by. They force me to sit through unwelcome and unwanted noise.

Don't get me wrong, a proper sound motor doesn't have to be silent. A tuber with a Supertrap, or an XB with a Micron, a Porsche flat 4 with a hot exhuast, and the wife's Mini Cooper S with the Dinan exhaust all sound BEAUTIFUL to me, and I realize they are a little louder than stock. But they aren't "reach out and slap you" loud.

The Harleys with the straight pipes and the Gixxers with the whatevers and the Civics with the really loud fart cans that drown out conversation when close, and that you can hear literally from a mile away, its hard to conclude that those people are anything but really self centered and inconsiderate.

Well said Reep! That about sums it up, most of us, myself included enjoy a good barking note within reason!
