hi, I just picked up a 2003 buell firebolt and when it is sitting at idle it will idle around 1000 then it it drops down to around 500 and almost dies. Also when going a steady speed there seems to be a bit of a surging issue. The check engine light also randomly comes on normally during city driving, then normally goes off if a cruse at a little higher speed or if i restart the bike. The guy i bought it from said he didnt ride it much as well. does it sound like a bad gas and bad spark plug issue or something more complicated?

Thanks

If the check engine light came on there's probably a Diagnostic Trouble Code stored that might point to a problem. Bad gas or spark plugs shouldn't cause a CEL.

There's info in the Knowledge Vault on how to retrieve those codes if you're not familiar with the procedure.
