Bike is a 2007 Xb12Ss.

Bike is charged up, has good spark, but doesn't seem to be getting fuel.

Fuel Pump runs when switch is set to run, then shuts off.

No fuel seems to be getting to the engine.

Bike runs fine with a shot of starter fluid, but dies as soon as the starter fluid is burned off.

No smell of gas in the throttle body, even after many attempts to start it.

Using the throttle has no effect.

Any ideas?

Actually, between 1-2 years. I am dreading that I might have to pull the swingarm. Could it be vaporlocked?

It is not necessary when removing the fuel pump. The bike will need to be jacked up and the shock will need to be unbolted from the swingarm.

Ulynut makes a valid point. I have been there, done that. Anyway:

Try pulling the fuel line where it connects to the fuel rail, then turn Ign on and then the Stop/Run switch. If the pump runs and you get fuel flow, the problem is w/the injectors. Given that the bike sat, and how quickly ethanol-added fuels can degrade, I would guess stuck or clogged injectors.

In any case, should point you in the right direction.

Just keep in mind the line is pressurized and the fuel will shoot out. Keep is away from your face or any flame source. So be very careful. Also you may want to relieve the pressure through the release valve before removing the line from the fuel rail.

fyi. i use a fuel stabilizer and drain the fuel when it sits for a long time. simple and cheap to help from getting these problems
