04 Xb12R firebolt---After a crash in which my shifter was broken my neutral night does not go off even when shifting gears, Im using the service manuel, but need to know the problem first!!

Start at the neutral light switch. Unplug the wire, and see if the light stays on. If it does, the wire to the switch is grounding out somewhere. If it goes out, the switch is bad.

You probably will have to chase the wire back towards the harness, and maybe into it, and find where it is shorting to ground.

P.S.

If the light does go out when you unplug the wire, the switch is easy to check. Put the bike in any gear, and check w/an ohm meter. Infinite resistance, the switch is good. Little or no resistance, switch is bad.

My X-1 does it, usually near an oil change. Very odd, and a pain to replace. My guess has always been enough metal in the oil from normal wear to close the gap
