Had a lot of bikes before this one,but this is my first fuel injected bike.I love it.Just what I wanted.V twin, torque, and a sportbike package. It started with a fouled front plug.Plugeg were old so I changed them.Did fine for about the next 300-350 miles.I then noticed it started having a what it felt like was a engine vibration at about 52 mph-63 mph.No engine light ever came on and finally the other day it started crapping out on the way home at about 55 mph.It got worse as I closed in on the house and would do fine if I kept it under 2750 rpm or so.Thought it was plug again, so pulled out plugs and they looked great.Reinstalled plugs and drove again, with same results.Read manual to retrieve codes and 11 was all that came through.TPS.Would a tps act like that?Perfect under 3000 or so rpm or is it somthing else.Plugged fuel filter maybe? Please help. This bike is my self therapy and I want a lot of it!! Thanks

Pull your O2 sensor and see if it is fouled with carbon deposits. Fuel filter would not foul a plug, but you can replace it if you want to preclude "former use of dirty gas" worries. Harley shop may tell you the part is obsolete but take it in to a good car parts store and they can match it. Were the new plugs nice and tan? Lean condition will give you a white deposit on them. It may be time to invest in an Erik Buell Racing module.

Get ecmspy and cable and do a tps reset. Ecmspy is a very nice tool to have on your collection of buell tools, so to speak

Thanks, gonna pull 02 sensor sat. and take a look.I thank you for your time.It is much appreciated.

As for emcspy,it is not availiable until 8-09-2011 or so it says.Looked all over for it,cant find it.Heard it was free and ordered the cable before I found the software and drivers.I'll keep looking.

Also gonna change fuel filter, dont know if it has ever been changed and has 14k+ miles.

What changes does a Erik Buell racing module make?

Been a transmission rebuilder for a few years but never fooled with a lot of this.Brand new to me,But it sounds like I might have some good help here. Thanks again and will let you know about 02 sensor

Oopster: sounds we're having similar problems. I too am in the market for the emspy software. I own an '08 XB12XT Ulysses. Just installed a Jardine JP-1 exhaust. Took the bike to my local HD dealer, paid for 2-hours of shop time w/ zero/zip results. Let me know if you find the map, and I'll do the same. Where'd you find the cable?

ECMSpy may be easy to use when it comes to TPS resets but its hard to come by these days. TunerPro can do the same thing. Have a look at xoptiinside.com

Someone sent this to me today to reset TPS without connection;
key on ,kill switch on,engine not running

throttle wide open count 3 seconds
throttle held closed count 3 seconds
do this back to back 3 times each and TPS should reset itself although you cannot see the results on scanner.

dont know, guess its worth a 20 second try
yipee if it works!!

That's only for bikes with the DDFI-3 ECMs.

Pulled 02 sensor today and it was very clean, looked good.Pulled plugs again and they were still white on tips like there was a lack of fuel.Cable came in today so after the plugs and 02 I hooked up to emcspy and reset TPS,cleared codes and made a big difference.Crapping out seemed to be gone but it was raining hard so I didnt bare down on it.Doesnt seem to have the ummmph it once had but much better.Maybe tomm I can determine where I am at. Cable and hard to find bonus for $43.00 shipping and all was great and found at www.vtwintunerconnection.com
will let you guys know how it is as soon as I can get some dry land to run on.
Thanks again

Fuel pump output pressure checks out, runs good but has trouble not wanting to idle down all the time, have to pop the throttle to get it down.

Take the air cleaner off enough to see the butterfly. Does it close smoothly when you shut down the throttle cable? There have been issues with the shafts bending or becoming grooved and not closing promptly. Also, it may be a good time to re-set the Throttle Position Sensor.

If it's not idling down, you may have intake seals issues.

With 14,000 on the clock, intake seals are a real possibility.

Another thought is maybe your ignition switch is on it's last leg. They are known to burn the contacts up inside the switch. If your switch is red hot to the touch after a couple of minutes with the bike running, replace it.

The high idle problem didnt start until about 2 or 3 days after I reset the tps.
Cured 1 prob and created another

Then do another TPS reset. Usually if the bike's temperature is not high enough when the reset is done a hanging idle is a result.
