My '06 Uly just died on me; got spark, and got fuel; done all diagnostics and no error codes..seems to have compression, only done a finger test..

What have been done in the last 1000km; engine oil, Primary chain oil, plugs, oil filter.

What happened, did a overnight trip, about 300km gravel; slept woke up, start the bike, rode about 2km and just died..

Any ideas?? [confused]

Just spoke to my local dealer, they say this might be due to the Buells blowing the plug during enrichment phase - according to them a relative common problem?.. Anyhow say it might still give spark, but with the electrode gone it wont fire up? Will swop out with old ones tonight and check..

Harmless to change plugs, but I'd expect something more.

I'd be looking at the bank angle sensor, maybe the timing, and looking for chafed wires somewhere...

I've checked/unplugged an plugged in all the plugs I could see.. The reason is, if there is a bad ground/plug etc, will there still be spark? I know there is a recall on the '06 BAS (bank angletilt sensor) and have been asking my local dealer for months to do, but haven't anyhow, I've disabled this via EMC SPy and still nothing, also if this was the prob, this would surely cut the SPARK ? NOt?

If it was the BAS you wouldn't have any fuel or spark.

Thanks Froggy; one less thing to worry about.
Hmm okay so swapped the plugs - still no fire; not even a splutter. I didn't do a fuel pressure check, but ran all the diagnostics (no error codes) - assume if the filter is clogged etc it will not show on the Diag? Then again I smell fuel and plugs is full of fuel.. I'm starting to fear the worst..Something internal, valves..But then again, It feels like there is compression, a lot.. for the first time I've actually tried cranking it over in gear, and I know most bikes have some resistance if started in gear with the CLutch in, but this is different, a lot more resistance - I will most probably be able to ride around the block just on the starter - and that is with the clutch in.. Can the cause of this somehow prevent the motor from firing up? What possible causes can this be?

Okay so I'm putting the weird clutch behavior to a "dry-ish" clutch, as the motor haven't start, I assume the oil hasn't "oiled" the clutch.. if that makes sense?..

Anyhow bought some "quick start" and still nothing.. Got a nice spark, getting fuel..still no start?

Well there's your problem...

Anybody know if an 2005 Buell Lightning XB12S "IGNITION PICKUP PULSE GENERATOR" or so they call it on Ebay will fitt in the '06 Buell Ulysses XB12x?

I never heard of "IGNITION PICKUP PULSE GENERATOR" before, but if its that timing piece that you have photographed above, all 03-07 XB9 and XB12 models use the same one, so yes it would work.

Thanks Yes - it is the piece photographed above.

I can get an 2nd Hand '03 XB9r Firebolt Cam Positioning Sensor ("Point Pickup") but not entirely sure it will fit an '06 Uly?

I've been told it looks different - I don't have access to it - it will be shipped to me approx 1000km (approx 600miles) - no cash refund..
