Never had this bike giving one bit of trouble. Today riding after about 1hr I noticed that when I shut off the throttle it is not going to idle speed quickly. From say at 60mph to almost stopped the rpm's will stay too long at 3k to 1.5k. It will get to idle of about 1k but not fast or instantly.
Anybody know where to look and check first?
I have ECMspy but no cable yet. Where's he best place to get a cable?
TIA

Try lowering the idle just a tick before you go crazy with everything else. Usually the slow return to idle is due to this. It can also be that your TPS needs to be reset, or possibly an intake leak too, but a quick idle adjustment is easy and usually fixes it.

I tweeked the idle screw a little but it didn't seem to help. Still slow to return to idle. I went ahead and ordered a cable to do the TPS reset.
I've seen a lot of posts on here and else where regarding the TPS reset in fact more than I really want to read, some seem very straight forward though. I think I need the step 1,2,3... methods. Anyone that has some good posts or web sites saved let me know. I haven't had to even consider using ecmspy yet and I don't even want to let the smoke get out of anything!

Leaking intake manifold seals will cause hang on decel. Its a classic symptom. TPS and lowering the idle can have an effect but if it's bad it is possibly the seals.

Try spraying brake cleaner on the intake ports while the bike is idling. Aim up under the frame on the RH side. If the revs drop there is a leak.

I have the James type seals fitted to mine. They are much thicker and less chance of leaking. They are hard to fit without rotating the motor. It can be done but there is not much room for the hands and you end up forcing a lot more than you want to.

Stock seals are easier to fit but may leak again after a while.

I've seen a cracked TPS cause the revs to hang when the bike was blipped at idle. Something to check if the seals aren't leaking.

I think I may have the same issue.
On a warm engine, it doesn't like to return to a "normal" idle.
I did lower the idle, and this seemed to help, but only for maybe 2 hours of ride time.

Bike is now consistently reluctant to come back to a 1k idle once warm. But it's inconsistent . . . at some lights it comes down, and some lights it'll stop at 1.5 or 2k.
