Alright guys, ive honestly spent the last month looking on different sites and seeing different posts but i never really saw results for fixing the problem.

Bike is a 2001 X1 lightning, and in any gear right around 4,000 rpms and above theres a serious misfire and it will not fix it self until you shift up.

Followed the buell book today on trouble shooting the Cam sensor and wiring.
Bike was not throwing a code for the cam sensor, but i noticed a sticky yellow booger looking substance dripping onto the swingarm and it was coming from the cam sensor area.

Took the pop rivots and covor off and took a look at the cam sensor to find that all the heat resistant coating is gone inside were the 3 connectors are located and most of the heat resistance coating is just melted right out.

The wiring came back good after tests, but the book led me to replace the sensor.

Anyone ever heard of this or have any idea if this could cause a bad sensor?

Please help! thanks in advance

It sure sounds like the sensor is defective at least by physical conditions. Let's hope a replacement solves the problem.
