My new 08 STT occasionally won't start and when it does, runs on one cylinder. When I picked up the bike th salesman said something about this but i never had it happen on any of my other XBs so I didn't pay close attention.
He said something like open the throttle wide 3 times then turn the key on and hit start???
Sound familiar to anyone? |

This is achieved by opening the throttle to wide open, setting the Run/Stop switch to Run then, turning the ignition switch ON. This will fire the spark plugs for approximately 4 seconds, burning any fuel left over in the combustion chamber. It may be necessary to repeat this procedure several times to allow a severely flooded engine to start. NOTE: Motorcycle should be in Neutral.
Try that. Being that you have been here a while, I am sure you know that new bikes often come with fouled plugs due to being fired up for only a few seconds at a time. If the cleaning procedure doesn't help, then you will need to chance them. |

I have similar problem. 09 xb12r 16000 + miles. Went riding in the morning, stopped for 20 mins started bike and only ran on 1 cylinder. When i pulled the plugs the rear cylinder plug was clean almost new with only slight tanning of the porcelain the front cylinder plug was completely black. Anyone had this problem or have any clue? |
