I haven't been riding all that long on the street and "popped my cherry" last night. Was showing some buddies a new rode we had found with some really nasty twistys, all was going good till I hit a wet spot of a great mixture of water and oil! I got her at least off the road, dodged the curves signs, hit the ditch and high sided, from there its a little blur happened so fast, I least high sided right before the big ass railroad tie fence probaly what saved me and the bike, I flew about 25 feet over the fence, luckily I've just got some bruised ribs and sternum and looks like (so far, say a prayer) just a bent handle bar, my bar end mirrors, and a few baby stracthes. Thank you Alpinestars and Icon, soon as I can walk around some more (tylox kick ass!) I'm gonna break her down and fix everything, I aint given up that easy!
Dustin

Glad you are here to talk about it. Good gear goes a long way. Where are the corner workers with the yellow flag when you need them? : )

haha, yeah i would be nice if the world was a racetrack They had plans to build a road coarse down here about 20 mins. from my house but due to some endangered turtles and hippies its not going to happen, so I guess we'll just keep pissing off the local 4-wheel yuppies till somebody opens there eyes.

I gave up arguing with cars a loooonnng time ago.... right or wrong, inertia wins.

Now I do what it takes to keep it in my lane, or to have enough margin to get OUT of my lane if somebody else sees fit to be IN it. :0

Ironically, the two best places I improved my street riding were on the dirt, and on the track. Trying to improve it past a certain point on the street was gonna get me killed...

Agree with you a 100%! It's amazing how defensive you have to be out on the road, we usually try to get out on the back roads and stay away from the soccer moms, but I do ride my bike to school (physical therapy major, how ironic uh) and it seems about once a week somebody pulls out or cuts me off, but I know thats just part of riding and I gotta keep on my toes. Gonna start working on my baby hopefully tomorrow if my ribs, back, and hell everything else starts fellin a little better. Can't have her sittin in the shop collecting dust...
