I need suggestions on my XB's engine miss. When I described to the dealer what the bike was doing, they said it needed a tps reset. They did that and it ran great for about two days. Yesterday I rode it and was just thrilled how well it was running. I stopped at my house and shut the bike off for 10 minutes. I then came out and restarted the bike to go somewhere else and instantly noticed the engine was not idling the same. It seemed rough just like it had been doing before the tps reset. Sure enough, as I rode away I could feel the miss. On decel it would jerk and jump as it slowed down and at steady throttle you could feel the miss-fire too. I need some suggestions. I am not sure I trust my dealer to figure this out.

Possibly due to a heated IAT sensor. This problem usually disappears after a few minutes of riding.

Gunter

Problem is, it does not disappear. After sitting for a day it might run well but it might not too.

checked for intake seal leaks ?

after a reset it will be running better for a while,
untill the ecm starts to learn,
ask your dealer what the AF reading was, before the reset it,
if it's way off 100 ( like 80 or something ) i bet you , your intake seals are leaking

To rule out one type of ignition problem, I'd check the spark plug cables to make sure there are no rub spots on the outsides and to double check that they are snapped securely on the spark plugs and coil posts.

Physically remove the cables, inspect and reinstall, one at a time.
