Would a restricted breather hose cause intake gaskets to go bad faster than normal? My intake gaskets are bad only 7000 miles after replacing them. I've got my breather hoses routed into a small fuel filter because I'm too cheap to buy a catch can. I can easily blow through these little plastic fuel filters so I assumed they would do the trick. | ||

Would not think so. It does result in oil spewing out of every available and not so available orifice of your bike though. If you are making oil in your primary then this is the first thing to look for. | ||

Nope, I don't have oil getting from the engine to the primary. But when I checked I learned that routing the crankcase breathers into the same can as the primary breather is a bad idea. All of the the moisture blowing out of the top end had been collecting in the primary instead of blowing into the catch can. | ||

Why would you route the primary breather to the can? | ||

I had a small amount of oil mist causing drips out of the primary breather, so I routed it to the can to clean things up. Now I know better. |
