Brand new XB12XT, owned 16 days, in the shop 3 times, left it today, 750 miles. Exhaust actuator replaced a week ago and won't idle properly, mechanic rode it today, comment was "runs like shit". No error codes kicking to the computer. Anyone else ever experience any quirk like this? Smells like a lemon. First Buell purchase, not going so well.

i felt your pain , i bought an 08 xb12x , i too had a few problems , like you my exhaust acuator broke but it was traced to a binding cable , cable and acuator was changed and been fine since , also if you bike is an 08 the make sure your dealer has installed the latest ecm update , last letter of ecm # should be a "y" , old was a "o" , when this was done in the first of june bike is near flawless , i'm lovin the uly now , over 6000kms and one most fun to ride bike i've ever ridden , hang in there , lots of good people here to help

I too, feel your pain.
I've got an '08 ULY that runs like crap, idles at 2000 RPM's, no power below 3000 RPM's, etc.
the shop has replaced the servo, cable, and intake seals. No change, still runs like crap.
This is my 7th Buell, 5 of the other Buells were flawless and are still in my garage.
My XB9 never had any of these issues, and my tubers run like a top...
I'm really unhappy with my '08. : (

Thanks for the insight, I'm not the only one with problems. Seems that the Quality Control process is lacking in East Troy, or upstream where components are manufactured. I got the bike back on 8/29, after the dealer worked via phone with Buell techs several times. They ended up overnighting an exhaust from Milwaukee to PA, that didn't fix the issue, even though the interactive control valve was defective. Two days later it was determined that the ECM was bad from day one. So a brand new bike hits the dyno and diagnostics at the factory, setup at the dealer and road tested 10 miles, and performance issues turn up at 60 miles the first night I own the bike. Which have resulted in a lousy first month on a new bike. My dealer has been top notch in getting this right, and I got some results from HD/Buell customer service in Milwaukee today. They have agreed to cover anything stemming from this issue that may come up after the 24 month warranty expires, forwarded the notes on this issue to East Troy, and are picking up the tab on my 5K service. At least an effort has been made. Still have a bad taste in my mouth over the experience. I had 8 years on a metric cruiser, only shop it saw was for inspection or tires. Go for a change and get this.

Thanks for the ECM advice, hope my new one covers the update, I'll ask at my 1000 mile service this week.

I had idle issues before the new ECM, would bog to 800 then shoot to 1400, back down and stall. Did the shop look into your ECM?

Hoping it's all riding and no shop time from here out.

im getting the new actuator valve put in next week. A new bike should not have an engine lite on. I have just over 5000 miles and no other problems

Just a general question, what are your month of productions for your 08? I'll be on the VIN sticker on the bike. I'm wondering if a particular month has these problems. *shrug*

Mine was produced in May '08. And from what I've found out through the past month there have been more odd things showing up on '08 Buell's than ever before at my dealer. Seems like Quality Control at the factory or from suppliers was seriously neglected.
