So I'm about to take my M2 up the east coast (FL to NYC) and I'm torn about putting new rubber on before or after the trip. Right now the 207 have about 3500 miles on it and they're definitely not in the best of shape but I hate the idea of throwing new tires on and wacking them right away with 1K miles highway.

I've also been toying with the idea of throwing them on before and having a bit more "fun" on the way up.

Kinda breaks down to.
Old= Take it easy, watch for rain, functional ride.

New= Safer, more freedom in ride, rain sucks but oh well...

If you were me what would you guys do?

New tyres make a big difference in the ride and handling of the bike. It's going to cost the same either way. Where would you prefer to buy your tyres? Where do you want to push your Buell at? For my peace of mind I like new rubber for longer trips unless I expect to use up a set during the trip.

Oh for me it's not a cost issue, like you said it'll be the same either way. The trip is mostly a logistical move, not for pleasure, ie just getting the bike up north.

Right now I think I'm leaning towards throwing them on and taking a bit longer on the secondary roads so I can enjoy the ride more and keep the 1200miles off the center a bit more.

That sounds like a plan.

how about if the tire gives up the ghost in lower dildonia somewhere... it will cost you an arm and a leg for a tire...buy one now while you can find one..
