Can any one tell me the difference in the 1998 Lightning Vs the 1998 Whitelightning.
I looked at a black lightning that the seller says is a Whitelightning. It is carburated, PMFR Wheels and he claims that it has 103 factory horse at the crank??

There were no 1998 Lightnings, only and White Lightnings, but not all were literally painted White. They came in all kinds of colors.

There were a host of Lightnings in 1998 including some models (The Lightning Strike) that were not available in the United States.

There were S1 Lightnings and S1WL White Lightnings produced.

I have a case of the brochures but no way to compress them at the moment. I've previsouly posted photos of all the various combinations that werer marketed.

There was an all black version. Karen Davidson rides one. Don't buy the hype about her's being "special" . . there were a couple Black Lightnings done but they differed little from the black frame, black bodywork models that were shipped.

Differences were cams and head's in the two models. But yes they did make Lightnings and S1WL's.

It turns out the bike I'm considering is an S1W. It does have the Thunderstorm heads and top end cams.

Same .497" cams are in both S1 and S1W.

Thank you Court and ClassicBuells Yes, same cams, different heads.

Dana, you and I must now relegate ourselves to the Hall of Shame until we can figure a way to resurrect/reboot the brain cells from ten years ago that have apparently ceased reliable operation.

Does anyone know what kind of cable I need to connect ECM spy to my brain stem? I'll need the old DOS version please.

You're welcome Blake, as you can see from my user name, I am very partial to "old school" Buells
