I’m hauling my bike and girlfriend to Round Rock Saturday morning to ride Hwy 1431 and 29 to Llano. We’re going to stop and watch the Eagles and eat lunch in Llano. If anyone is in the area keep an eye out for us. We’ll both have white helmets.

Anyone going to the Texas Ducati Trackday on Monday May 23rd at the Motorsport Ranch in Cresson? If so, I’ll see you there. There’s still plenty of room.

Hey does anyone else post here?

Joele,
Too bad you missed RoadThing's recent hootenanny at his "Ranchito Chingadero" in Brenham (I almost missed it!). Maybe he'll do it again in the not too distant future. We'll have Thrills In The Hills V sometime this fall in the Hill Country around Leakey/Kerrville. Keep your eyes peeled for info on that as we usually have several Houstonians attending. Jeff Brooks at Ducati Austin (former Buell Guy at Austin H-D/Buell) is the organizer of the Texas Ducati Trackdays. He's very Buell friendly and would welcome you at his Ducati shindigs. We also have Buell/Ducati Bikenight at Dirty Martin's in Austin (see pics, above), every Thursday night. We've occasionally had Dawg from the Houston area, as well as guys from San Antonio, Killeen and College Station, come for the evening. Come visit sometime!

The Dirty Martin's on Thursday nights sounds like my kinda gig. Sister lives in Austin and her Bo rides a TDM - might be able to talk him in to coming along too. Four day weekend is in the future!

Hello everyone, time to give my long overdue report on my last Ducati trackday on May 23rd. The beginner class had only 14 riders. I counted 18 in intermediate and 9 in the advance group. Special guest Doug Polin was there to help instruct. I have no ideal who he is but apparently he had several titles in the 90’s. Again the bikes were mostly Ducatis, I saw only 1 Aprilia, 1 Triumph and a KTM Duke motard. There were 2 BMWs, which you could pass at will, and another Buell. Shane from Austin who I met at the BRAG Texas Twisted event came up with his S1.

I plan to attend the next trackday at Cresson on Monday September 12th. Dago said he would join me. How about everyone else? Can we make a Buell showing! It’s a very relax atmosphere with a lot of foreign accents. I plan to post this in the other Texas Storm Fronts and again later this summer to see if we can get more Buell riders.

Get your January 2006 calendars out...

I just got off the phone with Dave Stueve (Daves) and he confirmed the HD dealer's meeting will be at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine again this year. SOOOO...

Here's the deal -

Saturday, January 21 - Dave's bike arrives in DFW.
Sunday, January 22 - ALL interested Buellers go for a ride toward Glen Rose (Dave want's BBQ again...but I'm betting he won't eat fried okra).
Monday, January 23 - Blake is planning a dinner, and Dave will try to "spirit" Erik away from the HD muckity-mucks to join us again.

This gives us enough time to get a few more riders involved (hopefully it won't be as cold), and more folks can plan on meeting for dinner, too.

Watch the DFW Metroplex Buellers board for updates! (I'm posting in the Houston board, too)

Since there is going to an event at Oak Hill Raceway on September 9/9-9/11 that many Buellers are attending, I’ve decided not to encourage the Buell participation at the 9/12 Ducati Trackday at the Motorsport Ranch in Cresson. The next Ducati Trackday will be on Monday, October 10th at the Motorsport Ranch, which is also Columbus Day and should be much cooler. So mark your calendars. I’ll be in touch.

The next Ducati Track Day is October 10th, Columbus Day at The Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX. $150.00 includes lunch, drinks and water. Very relaxed, friendly with small groups. Last May there were 14 beginners, 18 intermediate 9 advanced riders. They have Ducatis, Aprillas, Triumphs and even BMWs show up. IMO they are not for race preparation, but you can get a lot of personal attention if you want it. Who’s in? Let’s make a big Buell showing.

Hey guys,

I just relocated to Austin from Chicago. I'll be buying an XB in a few weeks here. Went to Central Texas Harley/Buell on I35 and Braker. Spoke to Jake Fierro. His knowledge of the product was limited...but they had about 15-20 2006 Buells...lot's of S's.

I am looking for an R and would prefer an 07 (he said they won't be ordering any 07's until they get rid of all their 06's). He said he'd deal on the 06's though.

I posted here to introduce myself to the locals...but to also ask a favor. I was wondering if anyone in Austin would mind riding my bike (once I purchase it) back to my place for me.

Also, anyone here park in a garage downtown near Cesar Chavez (keeping the actual garage private just in case)? My girlfriend parks their and saw 3 Buells there today. One was definitely an orange Ulysses.

Hope someone sees this thread...talk to you soon,

Adam

Howdy Adam, welcome to Austin! Just in time to avoid that Chicago winter! My name is Jay and I work at Central Texas H-D/Buell as the Receiving/Service Parts Manager (hiding out in the back). The "Buell Friendlies" at the dealership are myself (S2, XB12R), Denny "da Bomb" Bahm (Rentals and Riders Edge; S3T) and David "on the" Dole (S1), formerly bike sales and now behind the retail parts counter. We have a semi-active BRAG club and have a Buells-and-Fellow-Travellers Night every Thursday evening around 7:00 at Opal Divine's Restaurant at Penn Field (3601 S. Congress). Usually 10-20 folks show up at these. We mainly stay in touch with one another with emails through a Yahoo Group: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/hellbuellies/ and have some stuff in the works for this Fall. Hope you'll come out to Opals and also come by the dealership and say "Hi!".

Adam, don't let Jay lead you astray. He'll make you ride to strange places in the country then ply you with Texas vodka and make you chase armadillos in the dark.

He's a dangerous man, I tell ya...

Welcome to Texas!

Welcome to Texas...
-where we give you the crazy eye when you ask us questions
-where we like to say Yeeehaaaaaaaa a lot and slap you on the back
-where Barbecue and Tex Mex are as sacred as our music and our motorcycles
-where we name our tents things like "the taj mahal" and tell you not to piss on it

-where we get a laugh out of one of our buddies' post on badweb, and then try to join in the fun, and just end up embarrassing yourself with some psycho-say the first thing off the top of your head post from Hell.. Hellbuellies that is(like the Beverly Hillbilies)

Welcome to Texas Adam. My name is Jesse, and I too am an Illinois transplant. I've been here for over 20 years though (moved in 3rd grade!). You will like Austin and Texas. I live in the Houston area.

Congrats on the upcoming purchase of your XB. I am hoping to get one after the first of the year. I am looking at the Xb ss or cg.

How bout those BEARS!!!! I was checking in on the game while at work. Disheartened with 7 min left in the fourth, screaming and flipping the "f" out when he missed the kick!!! Gotta love that defense and special teams!

Anyway welcome to Texas and safe cycling when you get your ride!

I don't know if Jay can take credit for leading me to the dark side, but his was the first Buell I ever rode.
I'm looking forward to rediscovering the joys of twisties on my new 1125R.

Oh, and I work nights so the Thursday night Opal's gathering might be a bit tough for me to make, but I'll try to swing by now and then.

Char,
The BRAN is on the main topics page, fourth heading from the top. Road_thing is (was) an Houstonian, but may not know about rentals. We used to have a rental Uly here at Central Texas H-D/Buell, but no longer. :-(

Hey y'all-

Are you still posting here or is there another storm fronts section?

Just heard I've got family relocating to Kerrville, they ride and said come on over and bring the Buells! Ooooh, ooo, ooo, twist my arm.

Just wanted to check in and say hey. With T.W.O closing in North Georgia, may need to formulate other plans for our vacation in May.

p.s. My Houston Texas friend from work tells me when Texans die, they don't go to heaven, they go to Austin. I've spent time in DFW for work, and have always wanted to have a reason to go back with an excuse to visit Hill Country. This could be it! Yeeeeee haw! BeLinda.

BeLinda,
We don't communicate much using this forum. Our main mode is the HellBuellies yahoo group and (secondarily) website:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/hellbuellies/

http://hellbuellies.freeforums.org/

We'll be having our annual Burgers and Spanners get-together April 10th. We're also planning a l'il ride and camp-out at Pace Bend Park in the near future (TBD).
This Fall, we'll have our 10th annual Thrills In The Hills ride weekend around the Leakey area (best roads in Texas and near Kerrville) and will also take part in the Harvest Classic charity event:

http://harvestclassic.org/

There'll undoubtedly be other shenanigans throughout the year as well. Look forward to seeing you sometime.
