The BMW F800R and the GSX-R 750 are the wife's bikes... I just get to ride them every now and then. The F800R is a great all-around bike... from commuting to road trips, great performance, ABS, and 57mpg.

The GSX-R is serious business...and lots of fun. WHo am I to refuse when the wife says she wants a sportbike?? With one of these "supersport" bikes in the garage, the XB-12R just sits...and that's another reason I'm selling it.

$5000 OBO for the 2009 XB12R...

(Made a slight mistake on KBB and NADA look-up... changed it in the classifieds as well.)

Damn Nick, I just saw it on CL...that thing is loaded. As good a deal as the Scg was...maybe a better. GLWS, whoever buys it will not be disappointed

I took the XB12R out yesterday for a short 150mi ride. Still - a lot of fun.

Its priced to sell (I think)...

Ed,

Just catching up on BADWEB... I noticed you were selling your bike and possibly getting an 1125R to race? I can tell you first-hand that racing an 1125R has its ups and downs. Zen, Brandon, and I can give you first hand accounts.

If you actually do this, spend your money wisely on meaningful things - suspension and tires that work...and keep those cooling fans ON.

You will be well placed in Thunderbike but at a slight disadvantage in GTO classes. You will be with some very fast company (as you well know - Mr. timekeeper) in Thunderbike and GTO classes...

BTW: There's a Kaw 636 for sale at MA which would make a good GTU class bike with only minor prep...something to think about(?)

My 1125R is back on the street with some track inspired improvments...a keeper. I like the bike but given the dwindling parts situation, this is not he best choice for track use/abuse unless you have deep pockets.

The 1125R was not going to be raced. I think it is a better street bike than race bike. I have a XB race bike right now; that is more than enough. The bike I was going to buy ended up selling out from under me. For a new street bike (since the VERY low miles 1125 sold) I have been thinking something with about a liter of displacement and 3 or 4 cylinders. I really like the look of the new Speed Triple's... The New ZX10 has also caught me eye as well.

After laying down the street bike 2 weeks ago I am wondering if the world against me riding right now. This has been a rough couple of weeks I have had.

The XB's are GTU and Am Club sport legal. After the rebuild I have to do on the race bike should get it to about 100hp at the rear wheel. Keeping the motor running shouldn't be a problem given the fact it's a sporty motor in drag. If I can get about 3 or so years of racing out of it I will be happy with that (given what I gave for it) and look in to a newer race bike.

My hope is next year to give Murrae a run for his money in ACS and be competitive in Nov GTU. Thunderbike will just be for the experience of racing with the faster racers.

Ed,

The Speed Triple is a great all-around street bike IMO. I like 'em.

The ZX10 is a good looking sport bike and serious power for the road and track. However, a 4cyl sportbike is less than ideal for streets and dealing with traffic... but can be lots of fun out on the open roads and twisties.

Interested in a 2009 XB12R? ; )

The XB12R has been my most flawless Buell... Still a great little sport bike. Every time I get on it, I have second thoughts about posting it for sale.

Funny story:

I took my bike to SFHD for service just before I left for Ireland. I have a service plan, so it's all included in my prepaid deal. Just before I take off, literally, I get a call from the shop. The guy says, "Hey, the tech says you need brake pads on the front." So I ask, "Well, how badly do I need them?" I'm thinking that if it's not super urgent, I'll just wait and do it later myself. He says, "It must be pretty bad because otherwise he wouldn't say you need them." Hmm... I had been having some issues with the front before I took it in there. I asked them to check it out. So, I say ok. Do it.

I get back from Ireland and my phone starts working again and I get a couple of voicemails. First one says, "Hey, your brake pads are in so you can come pick them up anytime." The next one says, "Hey, your brake pads are in, so bring the bike by and we can put them on for you anytime." Hmm... the bike is already there. Why don't you just put them on?

I get home and go up there to get the bike. The guy looks on the computer and then says, "Oh, your brake pads are in. Did you want us to install those for you?" Uh... no. I don't. You've had the bike for two weeks. You should have put them on then. Give me the box and I'll put them on myself.

So, everything is covered except the pads, so I have to pay for them. I go pay and they're $120.00!!! Whatever. I'm pissed, but I'll figure it out later. I load up the bike and bug out.

After getting home, I start looking around for better pricing. American Sport Bike has Lyndall Gold pads for $65 shipped. That's like half the price!

So, I order them. After getting my order, I discover that Brian Robertson can get Ferodo Sintered pads for $37.50.

Today I took the originals back to SFHD. They were new in the box, so no biggie. While I was there, I saw Murrae and talked to him about it. Turns out, they gave me the wrong pads! I didn't even look at them or take them from the box. Turns out, they're the set for the 8-piston caliper. I have a six piston caliper. They didn't even order the right part! They had the six piston set in stock for $65. I was thinking, "That's more like it." But still...

So, I got my money back, I'm expecting a box from American Sport Bike, and I'm probably going to buy a set from Brian for my other bike.

so they gave you the 1125 pads? I still dont think I have paid that much for a set of pads...maybe the front AND the back pads, but not just for the front ones. Glad you got it all sorted out... were your front pads "Pretty bad" as they said? or???

I haven't actually torn into it yet because I was waiting on my new pads in the mail. BUT...

I did look at them without taking them off and you can still see the score line in the pads, which means they're still within the useful range. I suspect most of my problem is build up on the disk that needs to be taken off with a scotchbrite pad and some brake cleaner.

probably...Dealerships have a tendency to tell you that you need new things when they are nearing their life expectancy... I have been there and they have told me that I need new tires, even though I wasnt even down to the ware bars yet.

EBC HH pads for the Buells were also available through M.A... After break-in they have better feel than the stock "wooden" feeling pads...IMHO

Besides cleaning, installing, bleeding etc... if you really want to get a great braking feeling... get EBR mounting hardware for the rotor.

Nice looking S2... However, I'm not interested. I have my eyes set on some other toys...need to make room. The XB12R is an excellent XB example at a very fair price.

Alliterative... as in regards to alliteration.... the repetition of a particular sound in the prominent lifts (or stressed syllables) of a series of words or phrases.
i.e. "Excellent XB Example"... or "Polly practiced pronouncing her pronouns proudly, pondering past participles."

I was just trying to make a joke.. sorry it went over your heads.
