I think Kawasaki has that under their wing, and from what I hear the "red" is more of an orange in real life.

Oh, come on... it's red. That's the problem, though. Most brands have a color locked up, right? Jap brands anyway. Green is Kawasaki, Red is Honda, Blue is Yamaha, Yellow is Suzuki. Black must be Harley, unless chrome is a color. But Ducati's are red. Beemers are grey. And it doesn't have to be obnoxious green, like Kawasaki, does it?

I'd like a nice British Racing Green, even though I'm not interested in a Triumph (which I haven't seen in green anyway).

I think Harley is black and Orange...and bell used to be blue and white I think. I wouldn't mind a green, but eventually you just run out of colors that haven't already been used... why couldn't ebr be Orange or yellow?

I had a green Triumph Sprint... dark green like BRG. It seemed "right" to have a dark green Brit bike. It was not a popular color. Their race teams have been yellow with the union jack... and their logo is Blue/White.

Seems like Blue and White have been the HD/Buell colors...

Erik Buell Racing uses black/white but also throws in the US Flag - which I like.

The Buell race teams in the days of the XBRR were Blue, Yellow, and Black.

BMW is Blue/White, and Black... check their emblem. However, their superbike teams have been sporting white, red, and blue.

Back in the earlier days of auto racing... "official" colors were set for manufacturers. Red=Italy; BRG=UK; Silver=Germany; White=USA; Yellow=Japan. Of course that color scheme has since gone by the wayside.

That stopped in the early 70s I think. It was the first time Marborlo (sp?) sponsored an F1 team, they painted the car in Marborlo colors.

Marborlo? You never smoked, did you Ed?

Yeah, I'm just saying, I think a forest green Buell would be cool looking.

Good Ed, keep up the non-smoking...
and CJ, he got all the right letters... just not in the right order ; )

You are right, a dark Green Buell would look kinda cool. I think it would look cooler on the lightening models/ non- faired bikes, but I'd be open to seeing an R model painted green.

they used to make a dark green S3, I don't know what they called the color, emerald something?

So, In the last two weekends, I've put about 1500 miles on my bikes exploring different routes to Pagosa Springs.

Briders routes are interesting, I really liked 96 all the way to El Vado Lake this Saturday. Even if it was about 25 miles of dirt road, I had a blast.
So, I think I'm going to go up 14, take the high road to Taos, then over the Brazos to Chama, and on up to Pagosa Springs to meet Jody.
It's about 6.5 hours so I will be leaving early. More curves, more miles, equals more smiles!

Anyone interested in riding up with me is more than welcome...

Firebolts need to stay Blue, White, Red, Yellow...and black. The Lightnings are fair game for color experimentation and other social experiments... ; )

Hey Daschunk... perhaps you should paint your TT green...

For some reason dark greens don't sell well...even on cars.

On Sunday, the wife and I went north to Chama, over on 64 to Taos, and took the high road back. For those thinking about going up that way, the road up to Chama had recently been chipped for several miles... No matter, minor issue and it was great to get out and cool off.

We experienced about 68-78F in the north and came back to a steady temp climb reaching 102F (in Bernalillo). Miserable return south of SF...due to temps.

BTW: I'm not sure I can get the whole day off on the day of departure (for the Durango trip) so I'm not sure of my departure time yet.

It's looking more and more like I will have the day off on Friday. Thus, I will take a nice scenic route up. I don't think I'll be leaving quite as early at Bart, but I think sometime between 0800-0900 is reasonable.

Luis is definitely coming but he can't get the day off. He'll be trying to come up from Santa Fe after work in the evening. If anyone is going up that late, maybe you could hook up. He's not that great with directions in areas he's not familiar with.

I still dont know of a departure time here yet. The earliest we can drop the dogs off is at 7:00, that will probably take 15 minutes at the kennel, and another 20-25 or so back to the house, then going over things to make sure we didnt forget anything... I figure the earliest we can leave is 8:00, but I dont like to rush, so maybe around 8:30.

I figure we will head North to Santa Fe for breakfast, then head through Espaņola and up to Chama via 285 and 64, then from Chama to Pagosa to Durango. My fiancee jacked up her knee again a couple weeks ago, and I am afraid she will be stopping a lot to stretch. I'm hoping the seat I am going to borrow from Bart will help her out a bit since it is a bit higher and wont keep her legs as bunched up... I should just get some dropped pegs for her too...

Well, I was thinking closer to 0900 for departure time. I don't mind stopping more often, it is vacation after all. I need to dig my camera out and make sure it's charged.

Lightning pegs for the passenger would help a lot too I bet, they are about an inch lower.

Breakfast in Santa Fe sounds good. Flying Tortilla is quite tasty.

I thought about it. I have this really nice Dark Green that I painted a 40k army some years ago. I bet a paint shop could mach that color. Maybe I will try it with the new front fender I got a few weeks ago.

Dunno.

Was thinking I-25 to Santa Fe, Espanola to Chama via 64, Pagosa, then Durango.

Might do highway 4 to Los Alamos, then Espanola up.

Going to do my best to avoid 550 all the way up.
What are you thinking?

That'll be Espanola to Chama via 84. 64 is the TA/TP route.

Either way, we'll figure something out.

If anyone is leaving later, Luis is going to be looking for someone to ride up with, after 5pm or so.

that is what I meant... I meant from Espanola to chama, but that I would cut off on 285 to 64 and take 64 accross the Carson Ntl forrest and hook back up with 84 into chama.... didnt explain it that way though.

it will look like this...

So who's off next Thursday the 18th. I will be in Albuquerque around noon and wont have a damn thing to do until we leave Friday morning.
I might go to Calibers and waste a few bullets.

Cj, what time do you usually leave work?

I usually leave around 1730 or so, but could try to get out earlier. Ed gets out around 1530-1545. Not sure about anyone else. If you want a nice ride, you could do NM14 from Tijeras to Santa Fe. The part just north of Madrid is the best three miles of the ride, but the rest is nice, too.

Calibers is nice, too. I'd love to burn some powder, but I'm going to be pretty busy at work trying to make sure stuff is good to go for my weekend off.

I get off of work around 1600 that day due to working a little extra to make up the time for Friday that I am taking off... I cant really get off any sooner than that though.

Ed, you wanna ride up with us next week? I think we will be stopping in SF for breakfast, but other than that, we just plan on riding. I think we will head out of our house around 8:30 (which would put us on your end of town closer to 9:00 probably.

My race plastics are in for the CBR finally (still need to pick up)... anyone have any experience drilling mounting holes in plastics? I think these come without.

Bart, Yes, I still have your number. I can pick it up whenever as my evenings are free now. When are you heading back into town from your Ruidoso trip?

I'm bringing my bike up to SF for its 18,600 mile (30K Km.)service in the Morning. hopefully they have the part in stock for me to get my clutch weep fixed this time. (they should considering I made the appointment 3 weeks ago and told them then that it has a clutch weep... we shall see)
