Just a thank you to Terry Dep, Alan J. Smith, Fireman Jim Higgins, Lorin Guy, Fred Fortune, Katherine Guy, Hans Mellberg, John Clelland, Rex Chaney, Jack Van Voast, Jim Armstrong, and everyone else who made the display at the recent Santa Clara Fairgrounds such a success last weekend. Many flyers handed out due to the hard work that Alan did making them up, and if it weren't for Jack Van Voast, the beautiful White Lightning wouldn't have been such a hit being there. See you all at ASBN on Monday April 5th for Flattrack Night

Update from Woz on our April Meeting.

The meeting went well. We had 76 people there by the end, with some folks actually arriving near 7PM, when the "show" was almost over. Bill Keys started with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, which was great.

Ray Abrams with Kenny Roberts' bike
Jimmy Odom
Chris Carter of Motion Pro with Bubba Shobert's bike
Bob Bellino from Calistoga Flattrack
Steve, his sponsor
Esther, the t-shirt sales and ticket sales girl, great girl
Lots of people.

Laser racing was there with two bikes. He's local, from San Leandro.

Alan Smith has put together a destination ride that he is looking to do. It will be discussed at our September meeting, September 6th. Don't miss this meeting.

Again, this is a destination ride that is being presented to the group. Alan is looking at it being September 16th thru September 19th. you can decide to go the entire time, or just meet the group at designated destination along the route.

You can call the ride, beat the snow over the passes, or Ride the Sierra Mountain passes, an alternative to our death valley ride, or look out, we are the Donner party.

Alan has some great ideas, some great stops along the way, historic locations, great hotels, etc. REX

We had about 20-30 people, 3 of them were first timers.

We talked about:
More up-dates on Bonneville from Fireman Jim
The September 4-day destination ride from me.
The Harley Dealers that are shutting down in the Bay Area from Bill Keys
Next year's 1/2 mile in Calistoga
The latest on Carnegie OHV from Dave Duffin (?)
Discussion on a ASBN swap meet once or twice a year
Etc.

An update from Alan Smith and his high mileage attempt with Craig Vetter.
A special Thanks to Alan, Jim, Jim, and Jack for filling in for october...

This Saturday is the date when I compete again with Craig Vetter on fuel economy. I've made additional upgrades to be more competitive. We will run from San Louis Obispo to Salinas, 150-miles. A diesel KLR 650 and an electric motorcycle are also planning to compete. We don't think the electric motorcycle can go the whole distance. If the Diesel KLR shows up I plan to ask the owner if I can test ride it.

Thanks to those that made it out to the November ASBN meeting last night. Quite a success for our first night at Dick's.

ASBN booth at the International Motorcycle Show.

We have a great opportunity to participate in the International Motorcycle Show this year, with a 10 x 10 booth promoting ASBN. At no cost to us.

Here is the scoop. We need volunteers to man the booth, and promote ASBN to the Motorcycle Enthusiasts in the Bay area and beyond, and a chance to also show off some Buell Motorcycles.

I need to make sure we have enough people to man the booth, for our deadline to participate is Friday of this week, November 5th.

The date of the show is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 19th, 20th, and 21st, and it will be in San Mateo.

The hours of the show will be as follows: Friday night-4 pm till 9 pm. Saturday-9:30 am till 8 pm. Sunday-9:30 am till 5 pm.

Set up for the show will be on Thursday night. Teardown of the show will be Sunday evening after the show is closed.

Here is what we need. Please let me know which part you can do for us.

Thursday night set up. (exact times to come, probably after day work hours, Thursday evening) We will need the following things set up:
-Our ASBN banner to the booth, and hung up on the back curtain and drape.
-Possible table cloths on our back or side table. Maybe a six foot table. I will verify.
-Two or Three Buell Motorcycles, Washed, Waxed and in good Shape.
-Hand out items for the booth. Meeting location cards, Website cards, etc.
-Case of water for the workers working the booth.
-I will work with those volunteering on this to show how we would like the booth set up.
-Probably two people would work out great. Two people_________________, ______________________. ( energetic, motorcycle enthusiasts)

Friday show time help.
-Times to work. 3 pm till 9:30 pm. Two people. ___________________,________________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell Shirts of some sort.

Saturday show time help.
-Three shifts on Saturday, if possible.
-Shift 1. 8:30 am till 12:30 pm. Two people. REX CHANEY,________________ (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.
-Shift 2. 12:30 pm till 5 pm. Two people. ____________________, _______________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.
-Shift 3. 5 pm till 8:30 pm. Two people._____________________, ________________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.

Sunday show time help.
Three shift on Sunday, if possible.
-Shift 1. 8:30 am till 12:30 pm. Two people. ________________,_______________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General.) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.
-Shift 2. 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm. Two people. _________________, ______________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort.
-Shift 3. (pack up) 3:30 pm till 6:30 pm. _____________________, _____________________. (energetic, outgoing people, ready to talk about ASBN, Buells, and Motorcycling in General) Attire. Buell shirts of some sort, plus pack up cloths. It would be ideal if the people working this shift are the people that helped set up the booth. They would need to take down banner, pack up the booth, and move the motorcycles out of the area, making sure it is as clean as it was when we arrived.

You can contact me at 925 451 3560, or at Buellv@gmail.com. REX CHANEY. I would like to know by Thursday morning, November 4th, if you can work any of the above positions. If we do not have the people, we cannot do the booth. If we are going to do this, we have to do it correctly. I am assuming that if you are a worker of the booth, you will be able to park and enter the buildings at no cost to you.

Thanks, REX

Erik Buell Racing
Wish we had a budget to film the story of the birth of the 1190RS. It is truly insanity here. Design, prototype, test, source hundreds of new P/N's, supplier contracts, dealer contracts, non-disclosures, certification paperwork, financials, race team prep, sponsor proposals, etc. Along with Erik Buell Racing parts orders, tech questions, sourcing, shipping. All with about ten people right now. Madness of epic proportions.

The above article was posted under Erik Buell Racing on facebook. Very interesting and exciting...

We’ve Been Busy

Although there has not been much activity on www.CalistogaFlatTrack.com lately, we have been busy working on a date for the Second Annual Calistoga Half Mile National and at least one other race in NorCal. If you have not been to the website recently take a look frequently as there will be updates regularly.

Check It Out!

The “Ya’ Suhudda Been There” T-shirt is now available at www.CalistogaFlatTrack.com featuring a Karen Gould, Checkered Flag Photography photo of Stevie Bonsey, the winner of the 2010 event, his first National win!. Also available are the DVD from Chet Burks Productions of the Calistoga Half Mile National show that was aired on MAV TV and a limited number of 2010 Programs and Event and Legends Posters.

Rider Travel Fund

We got a late start on the Rider Travel Fund (RTF) last year but still managed to raise $3,000 that was paid out to the GNC riders based on how far they traveled. We are starting early this year in the hopes to raise a significant amount. The criteria for the pay out will be different for 2011 and will be announced shortly along with the donation levels and benefits. Currently, proceeds from the sale of the 2010 posters and programs will be allocated to the RTF.

GNC Schedule

Stay tuned to www.CalistogaFlatTrack.com for the announcement of the 2011 schedule which should be coming soon. A quick look at the tentative schedule shows multiple West Coast GNC races (that will really happen) with the return of one of NorCal’s legendary GNC events!

AMA Pro Racing

After a meeting last month in Daytona with AMA Pro Racing management, staff and some team owners and other promoters, I am convinced that Flat Track racing is on its way back in a big way. With the leadership exhibited by the AMA Pro Racing management and with the quality staff who will be focused on the sport of Flat Track racing, this is the first time in my 40 years of involvement with the sport—as a racer, sponsor and promoter—that I feel Flat Track will be getting the attention it deserves. With the resurgence of Flat Track racing and with multiple brands winning races, the timing could not have been better. But no matter how good all of the above is, Pro racing does not exist without the race fans. Your phenomenal support of the 2010 Calistoga Half Mile National is greatly appreciated. We are working to make 2011 even better!

See ya’ at the races!

Hey Buell Blast/ Thumper owners. I don't know how many of you are a member of the FSSNOC, Four Stroke Single National Owners Club?

They are owners of single cylinder motorcycles, and travel everywhere on them. The do what is called Thumper Cafes. These are locations around the country, usually about 3-5 per year. They guys will ride many hundreds of miles just to meet, have lunch, talk, and then drive home.

California is fortunate to host one of these this year. It is going to be June 11th in Olancha, California, at the Ranch House Cafe.

You should be a member of the FSSNOC, but you do not have to be. The cost is $10, plus you cover your own food, lodging, and fuel. But it is fun.

Olancha is near Death Valley. A beautiful area. It opens at 10 am, they eat at noon. You can check this out at fssnoc@yahoo.com, or call 620 663 1869. Good homecooking.

There are always prizes for the ones that ride the furtherest, etc.

Check it out, and show them The Buell Blasts!.. rex

April 4th is one of our biggest nights of the year at ASBN!

Why, you ask?

Because it is Flat Track Night!

All of you know how involved Bill Keys is with Flat Track Racing. He has been connected to that type of Motorcycle Racing for years. He knows all of the movers and shakers! and we are glad he does!

Don't miss this meeting! Bill has quite a program put together for everyone this month. He has been working on this night for many months.

So come on out, and visit with some of the greatest Flat Track people in the Bay Area! Thanks ASBN. REX

Yes, you might be at Infineon for MotoJam that Sunday. Or you might be watching MotoGP at D-Store or your other favorite spot with friends. But there's no reason you can't come down to Tosca afterward for this race book party, which will run 6pm-8:30pm.
