Here's a note from Bob,

1) I have already told Jill at Faultline to cancel/postpone the BBQ
2) When I awaken to my alarm at 6:00am I will look outside and if no rain go to step 3)
3) I will look again online to see www.accuweather.com , if no rain predicted until late (after 3:00pm) I will proceed to step 4)
4) 6:30am departure from my house
5) 7:30ish have breakfast in Vallejo
6) decide whilest eating next step.

Let's all chime in. Who's going? I am in unless it raineth.

Bob, do you have a head count yet?

the BBQ can still be a GO...I will make a call to Faultline when we are in Vallejo, so they can still host us when we get there

There were ultimately six. It was good to see Curt Relic at the Vallejo Dennys. Curty meant to ride and he did. We picked up Mike Conlan at Walnut Crick Buell. Mike took us into Bonanza Country and then we went on to Livermore and Faultline.

Mike Genthner of Faultline...Wow. They were waiting for us and gave us all free hats and when we went out back they had a hospitality tent set up with some guys cooking hotdogs and all the trimmings, soda and chips. Really great. And that's just par for the course at Faultline. Mike and his crew have been such an important part of ASBN. We really appreciate those guys.

I bought my wife a shirt, but when I buy the next Buell, it'll be at Faultline. We also visited Bill Keys who has been a terriffic supporter of ASBN since forever.

Bob put a great ride together based on a good idea. I traveled off the road when some gravel scared me from turning on it, but other than that I had a great time. It's good to see someone from the crew step up and become a leader in ASBN. Many, many thanks, Bob.

It would not have happened without the support of the four riders (Skip, Jon, Alan and Curt) starting up in Vallejo.

If no one else had been brave enough to tackle this ride...I would have gone straight home (my son's Scout Troop campout was my backup plan, and yes, I did campout in the rain that night....twas a bit nippy in the morning too)

My thanks to all who rode with me that fine day.

and what a road that was! circumnavigating the East side of Mt. Diablo on a road I had never known about before....with gravel for the center strip....very challenging

my trip meter was showing about 177 miles at the end of the day once we hit home.

on an "off note"

I was deeply saddened when my wife told me on Sunday about the Oakland Officers who were slain. One (Sgt. Daniel Sakai) was a neighbor...lived just across the street from my inlaws (around the block from Jon).
I did not know him personally, but my inlaws had always spoken highly of him.
May these Officers Rest In Peace, and their families grow stronger from sorrow.

Bob,

That gravelly road scared me silly!

Please e-mail me offline to let me know what my family and I can do to bring any comfort or support to this home. Our hearts are broken over this.

Thanks again for the great ride. Let's get some coffee sometime...on the bikes, of course.

so still some sun left for the ride home......
