Kickass Dana. Any nights free next week?

I'm gonna make an "unofficial" Homecoming poster and put it up in my Gander Mtn.

Court....would the need for a RSS be a good one to bring up?? LOL.

I went to pick up my 25th VIP package from Gainesville H-D/ Buell today... Unfortunately I was not able to bring it home on the bike (bummer).

BuellGator is going to mail said package to my house. I got a sneak peak in it and I'll post up when it arrives and I can check everything out!!

FYI - Kind of an update:

quote:

Due to costs and planning, we’re requiring pre-registration for the event, which is a little different than in the past. We will not be able to accommodate any walk-ups simply because we won’t have the items available if we don’t know folks are coming – therefore it’s MANDATORY that people register online before the event! Registration closes June 11 so I hope to see your name on there soon! It’s sure to be a good time. That said I’m not sure the value of the package has been made clear enough for folks either. Was hoping you could help spread the word about the value of the package. We’re offering up a lot of stuff for $55. I’m sure you know the details, here’s what all included in the 25th Ticket Package:

- 25th Anniversary event T-shirt and patch

- 25th Anniversary commemorative event guide

- Exclusive access to the East Troy factory on Thursday, July 3 (this year, this portion will only be available to those who register for the event – due to costs and planning needs)

o Lunch

o Two technical seminars

o Factory tours

o Autographs with Erik

o Vintage Bike Display

- Full Dinner and 25th Historical Seminar and Q&A with Erik, Jon F., Henry and the Engineers on Thursday night at the host hotel (this is an additional $50, but it’ll be well worth it).

- Guided Adventure Ride on Friday, July 4 (or the option to participate in the 25th Anniversary Track Day at Blackhawk – additional $100, which with lunch included there too that’s still a great deal!. The track day too is only available via pre-registration.)

- Free admission to Summerfest (world famous music festival) on Friday, July 4 plus a free shuttle bus to/from the festival from the host hotel that night. (There’s also free motorcycle parking at the event for those who choose to ride.)

- Free admission to Road America on Sat/Sun for the CCS/ASRA Races:

o Free Buell demos on the street and Motorplex minitrack (which was a bit hit last year)

o Buell Hospitality tent (free beverage and snacks all under a shaded tent)

o Buell Track Lap on Saturday

o Support and watch local Buell racers in action all weekend.

- Erik Buell and Thunderbolts playing at the Victorian Village Tiki Bar in Elkhart Lake Saturday night

All packages, including venue tickets, are being fulfilled onsite at registration on Wed/Thurs at the host hotel.

you all have fun. Guess I was 100% correct in saying you can't get on the factory property without paying. I believe HOG has more to do with planning this event than most think. I know better.
Maybe we'll see ya at the track.

BTW, before any of you accuse me of being a cheapskate or b!tchin' I agree that the price of $55 is a bargain......IF you're doing all the events. Do to timing of the CCS races, I can't do 90% of the events. So to me, it's not worth it. I'd love to go to the factory and just talk with everyone IN THE PARKING LOT.
But according to Court's post above, that isn't possible. IMHO, that's too bad, and really frickin' stupid. "Planning and costs"
Give me a frickin' break. Been a year in planning and it doesn't cost them a dime for me to talk to people. Yes. I believe they're making a huge mistake. Just my opinion though.
Seems weird to me that they send me over $100 worth of stuff for free because I race one of their bikes (which is totally awesome for them to do that and I've thanked them a million times). Yet I have to pay to stand in a parking lot. The free stuff reeks of Buell class. Paying to stand in a parking lot reeks of H-D/Hog greed. Yep. I said it! And I believe it too!

I agree. Let's get that out of the way first.

But . . . this is simply too big and I have nothing to prove to the H.O.G. folks. I know to pick my battles.

Your circumstances, Roccy, are a bit unique. There will be others with unique circumstances. I do however agree with doing what works best for the majority of people. There will simply not be sufficient resources to administer a tiered "Level 1 get to go on the tour, Level 2 attend tech events and so forth". Far more important to do the big picture well.

That being said . . . . Buell, since the day Homecoming consisted of a dozen folks, has been about inclusion. If you ride a Buell or frankly if you ride anything and are a Buell fan and aren't able to swing the $55 smackaroos or have, like Rocco, extenuating circumstances, drop me a note. I think there my be several underwritten scholarships available.

In addition, I suspect there will be some well known Buell personalities from around the world and I don't want anyone to miss this for want of $55.

My gas company has a "Good Neighbor Fund" whose purpose is to help out needy families. I propose we do something similar. I'm not exactly rolling in dough, but I'd be willing to kick in so that if somebody is having trouble making it to Homecoming due to financial hardship, we could help out a bit.
It's what Buellers do for each other, after all.

For me, personally, the money end isn't an issue. If it was, I wouldn't be racing. I am, however, not going to throw money away.
I would love to go and just meet some fellow Buell riders. I am a huge fan of these bikes and to me, that's the best part about these bikes. The different people that are all drawn to one place to celebrate. I, too, think that it would be a shame for people to miss out on Homecoming for a mere $55.
But I can see it happening. Too bad. I would appreciate any idea's Court. I just want to swing by and say Hello. That's all. I don't want a Tee shirt, patch, soda pop, tour...but I also don't want to be turned away.

Me, I can't do anything on July 4th, we have a family event that cannot be missed. So I don't use that part of the ticket at all. I likely will only go to the track on Saturday (if that) so I am giving that bit away also.

So I get a shirt, trinkets, access to the factory and a race track pass. Sounds a like good deal even if I don't go to the track, I know I can find someone to use my racetrack pass if I don't. I would pay the $55 just for the Wednesday activities, sounds like a deal to me. All the rest is gravy.

The problem I have is I know that I'm going but I'm not sure if my girlfriend is going to join me. Unfortunately it will be a last minute decision for us because of the new baby and she's back in school.

She wants to go but if we can't find someone to watch the baby then she can't go. If we do find someone then she is going, but the cutoff date for the registration is June 11.

I don't think she will be happy if I leave her at the hotel while I go to the event. : )
I don't want to buy an extra ticket and be stuck with it if she can't go either.

What to do?????

And . . . by the way . . . . bring your Mastercard. . . they don't take American Express. I'm having to send a check.

I am glad we were made aware of the 55 dollars in order to participate the activities. I have my own opinions about that, good and bad. I am more than happy to pay it for the chance to be a part of this.

I have a similar problem as Damnut, my girlfriend is planning on attending with me but I did not register her because she just wanted to enjoy her vacation with me and did not care about some of the Buell activities. So, thinking she would be able to walk around the grounds and enjoy the tour and talk to Buell people with me, I did not register her. My fault!

Based on the gouge I decided to register her but in order to register an additional person you have to go through the registration process again which means paying again, I think! I did not go through the whole process since I did not want an additional 55 dollars charged to me with my name on it.

My question is if I go through the whole process can I make changes at the end? Can I canx the whole deal at the end of the process before my credit card is charged. It has been a while since I registered and cannot remember if I was giving the chance to change stuff like name.

The other alternative is for her to signup herself and charge her credit card which I do not want her to do.

I emailed Buell at the email provided on my registration and am waiting for feedback which I will post when it arrives in case anyone is in the same boat as myself.

I'm struggling too. I got far enough through to determine they didn't take American Express. I went to my desk and drug out a Mastercard, last used apparently in 1985, and am trying to get back in. I must have deposited some sort of "crumb" trail . . . . I just keep getting a page full of code.

Here is the question I asked to Jill who is manning the Buell 25th email:

From looking at the web site, in order to register my girlfriend I have to go through the registration process again. That would get me to the end of the process in order to register additional people. That is not what I want to do since I have already registered and do not want to pay again for myself in order to add her. The first page ask for billing information and is making the assumption that whoever is registering is registering themselves throughout the registration process. Is there a number I can call to add her and just have the additional charges added to my credit card?

Here is the answer:
Hi Frank,
Unfortunately, you have to register your girlfriend via our website this way. What we ask that you do is to put her name down in the registration but put your address and billing information in the credit card fields if you plan to pay for it. She will have to pay the $55 registration fee and the fees associated with any of the optional activities she chooses to participate in.
Thanks,
Jill

I have always liked the Buell web site and having done some web site design and development in the past I can appreciate the work that goes into it and also understand the number of different variables that you don't think about or predict when deploying a web site. Looks like I will just have Lynn register herself.

As an IT professional I find at least one thing every day that IT has made more complicated than what it needs to be. Today I have found 15 but what the hell, its Monday.

Buell/HD better have a decent plan to deal with the folks who ride to ET and run into a $55.00 fee.

I hope dealers make riders aware of this.

I don't understand the big deal here. Every homecoming has always had a fee involved. This year is no different. I am sure there will be no problem coming to the factory and hanging out outside. But if you expect to take a tour and participate in the other events you have to pay. That is how it has always been. If you can't make every day ask if somebody can split the days with you and share the cost.

Also I se Dana has Erik coming to play at this bar. You won't need a ticket for that so another thing you can do wthout registering.

"Exclusive access to the East Troy factory on Thursday, July 3 (this year, this portion will only be available to those who register for the event – due to costs and planning needs)"

Dan. Not trying to be an @ss, but I believe the above statement speaks for itself. Contrary to Homecomings of the past, it appears that you may not even go to the Factory to stand in the lot.
I for one, don't expect something for nothing and entering the Factory was never part of what I wanted to do.
Rather than cause any more problems, and be accused of being, cheap, stupid, dense, ignorant or what ever else people are thinking, I'll just sign off this thread by saying have fun. I'm done with the whole Homecoming thing. It's been taken off the calendar of events for me.
