If anybody who's going to the Factory wants my Summerfest ticket, send me an email (john.heibler@messer-mg.com) or look for the guy on the 03 Lightning in the parking lot.

While I too think the price of admission is worth it, I think they could have made a couple of different packages for the tickets.

Graduated ticketing is something that has been requested many times, but then how do you break it down? Some don't go to the weekend races, some only go to the weekend races, some want the evening stuff because they work during the day, some want the day stuff only because they work at night, some want a no-food option, some want a beverage only option, and some just want it all for free like it might have been long long ago.

You guys have to remember that this event is put on with absolutely minimal time and money. Almost everyone involved in planning and execution has another job at Buell that is easily more than a full time effort. The budget to put this on is squeezed out of the marketing budget and a bit of it comes out the operating budget for the factory.

Putting this on requires tons of work and sacrifice by the folks out at Buell and they do it out of love. They love to meet and greet all of you.

Someday Buell will have the resources to do all sorts of special things in the meantime enjoy the opportunity to attend a very casual inside look at YOUR bike company. Get inside the building ans talk to as many employees as you can. They love it and so will you. And don't miss the seminars; the people putting these on not only know more about the topics than perhaps anyone in the world they will be presenting the real story not just a marketing spiel. And if you can think up good questions you will really get good unrehearsed engineering answers.

And Court and I will be set up to sell and sign books. Think of the possibilities for mischief with the two of us sitting side by side for hours;) We can come up with some interesting ideas.

A cool event.

A ticket package that included everything. One that included the factory+races and one that included factory+summerfest.

Or make the factory visit free and have one ticket package that includes everything. I'll bet there'll be alot of Buell riders coming to the factory that don't even know a ticket is needed.

I believe there was different ones available last year wasn't there?

Frankly . . . .as cool as it would be to have the "Choose your package" deal . . . it's just not feasible.

The "plan" was to have no Homecoming last year to rat hole the $$ for the one this year.

It was very cool because owner enthusiasm dictated otherwise and it was an absolutely spectacular turnout.

The event his year is going to be special on so many levels and a real emotional experience for some of us. I

I'm looking forward to seeing Rich Cadie, John Mikosh and some of my pals from the days when saying you were a Buell owner meant you belonged to a group smaller than 12.

: )

This is a REALLY cool deal and the folks at Buell and Harley-Davidson are really working hard to make it special.

Court the only problem I foresee is that when folks who don't visit this board (yes, there's a few) or the Buell web page decide to ride to ET for homecoming then they get a $55.00 entrance fee. That may sour some folks who not only spent money on a bike (or two, three), but lay down alot more on swag, parts and accessories.

I'm not saying the factory tour/lunch/meet-and-greet with Erik should be free, but maybe there should be a $5.00-10.00 cover for that instead of the $55.00 get everything or nothing.

If Buell can build technically advanced bikes, surely they can handle a tiered ticketing issue. Isn't this why there's HD Event Planners?

Mikej, you hit it right on the nail. You sell the stuff individually.
I believe this was in the works as of last summer, no?
Again, I know it sounds like I want something for nothing. Not true. However, paying $110 for my Wife and I to do one day of the whole event and only the factory end of it, because we'll be at the track either late Thursday evening, or early Friday morning, which makes all the other events not doable, seems a little steep to me. That's all I'm saying. And I don't want to show up at the factory only to be told I need to park out on the road, or worse yet, I can't come on the property without a wrist band.
Being that the vintage bikes are in lot, can I even walk onto the lot? I guess the best way to solve it is just not go.

I'm taking in what I can. I have my Son's B-day that weekend. My wife has a work schudule I have to work around a bit. If I have to spend 55 to do it so be it. I gotta do what I gotta do. As far seeing people that I haven't seen in years??? Thats what I'm paying for. Some have people have to spend hundreds just to get here so 55 to me is a small price for me. This one is special to me on the account that 5 yrs ago we did the 20th grass roots right here on the BadWeb. So seeing everyone is really a special thing.

Court did you talk to John Mckosh ?? I really hope to see him ride in on Janice and maybe show off you know who.

Just something that I've been wondering about; Last year, Hal's and Uke's both had events during Homecoming. Are they going to be as active this year?

I've been out of the loop lately!

As they say in the motorcycle business . . . . "I tide glad bearings".

No one will be turned away from Homecoming, nor will anyone have any problem. Buell has always been about inclusion. I suspect that if the $55 fee jams you up that you won't be left to wander the shoulder of I-43 looking for coins.

If you can make it to East Troy . . . BE THERE OR BE SQUARE.

"I tide glad bearings".

If you wash your bearings with Tide, they'll rust! Use a good solvent, then use a good quality grease or oil (depending on application) to keep rust at bay and insure a long life.

True that be . . . . but bear in mind I have a special surprise waiting for you . . . . . ergo, you should treat lightly.

: )

Bottom line is that ANYONE who is a Buell enthusiast who shows up at Homecoming will have a great time. I don't see the folks who brought you "Different in Every Sense" telling someone who just traveled 17,000 miles to attend they can't have a 4.5oz bag of chips and a Buell funded soda pop.

I'm going to go to Europe to collect some of the wayward stragglers and bring them here.

Erik is Downunder, as I type this. . . doing some recruiting of his own.

If you thought the 1990 Homecoming is fun . . . well, you ain't seen nothing . . . this is going to be great.

"you won't be left to wander the shoulder of I-43 looking for coins."

I found a $300.00 fishing rod on I-43 once.

I never thought for a second that Buell would turn away an owner or enthusiast, but after the email I got from Buell (see above), I was a little skeptical.

This is going to be very cool. I do think there needs to be a bus setup for Summerfest. It will be a rare bueller who can go to that event and be in any shape to ride back to the hotel.

Dave,

My thought was, if I stay home for the whole weekend, that I'd offer a ride down/back, with my 4 door pick up. I could get 4-5 in my truck. Maybe as we get closer, we could have a sign up for those who could drive? Just a thought.

Dana....what are you doing Saturday morning? Free??

I did a "small bus" last year. If there isn't some form or shuttle I can handle working that one out even if we need to have a group of "designated Bueller" who take turns running a rented bus to and fro twinxt Summerfest and the hotel.

Totally doable deal . . .

How far is Summerfest from the host hotel?

(too lazy to look it up)

For those of us who don't drink and ride, isn't it just in Milwaukee? (I'll ride in/back and just give somebody else my alcohol allowance for that evening.)

Slaughter in years past motorcycles have gotten FREE preferred parking right across the street from the main gate. It gets pretty crowded but it is cool. H-D picks up the tab.

Nice to be treated as a VIP.

One of the Aussies and I are renting two cars . . . one "Flash Unit" for our wives (hovering near ZERO interest in tire kicking and are headed to visit Frank Lloyd Wrights home) and then we're getting a "Robust-a-mobile" that will be available to shuttle wobbly Buells.

In the "Good Old Days" I used to invite Father Ferris Bueller in to lecture the Yutes . . . . . under no circumstances should ANY Bueller who wants to drink to their heart should absolutely do so . . . but DO NOT drive.

There will be TONS of transport available driven by folks who understand drinking.
