found other sources posting about it
looks cool, but for 7k for a 500, I'd rather just buy a sporty
but we'll see, curious what sort of numbers it'll have etc

but looks like a classic hog, i dig it

More info here: http://street.harley-davidson.com/en_US?hbx_camp_i d=hdredirect&urlvar=street&camp_id=16&source_cd=Va nity_street

Interesting, "liquid" cooled (they just can't bring themselves to say "water", can they?), 4 valves per cylinder, single overhead cam.

So what happens to the Sporty when these things are cheaper and quicker?

Rear quarter view of tail looks nice, from the side and front it's a disaster. Looks like something Kawasaki would build as a entry level cruiser on an old Ninja engine.

Looks remarkably similar to the new Yamaha cruiser, which may not be a bad thing. Even the exhaust and engine castings look the same.

If the price is right for the 750 I can see H-D being dragged reluctantly into the late 20th century at least (lets not be too optomistic).

Back half looks like a mini Super Glide to me. Smart move on HD to enter this market segment but don’t see anything there to make me want to trade in my XT.
I don't have an issue with the radiator but what is with that fairing? Not to my esthetic taste at all. UUUUgly!!

It reminds me of Joanne's Honda VT500 Ascot, but the Ascot looked a lot nicer. Welcome to 1984, HD.

Al- that's what I thought when "spy shots" of one seen in India showed up on the net a few months ago.

I still have my Ascot- it's a cool little bike.

This intro is HD shaking the last bit of Buell elf dust off their shop coats. The 500 is almost a given to be the "Riders Edge" bike next season. Sell them what they learned on is a smart strategy. In other posts I always thought they should sell a small cruiser styled bike below the Sportster. It also explains why our local Buell dealer is fire-sale-ing dinged but untitled Blasts. Even if it is HD price for Honda style product, I'll bet they sell a bunch of em.

Al, you beat me to the punch. I would take an old Ascot any day. I see the Fireman Jim also thinks the same...

Those bikes are embarrassing. I would be ashamed to be seen on one. It looks like it was built for hipsters, problem is hipsters don't have any money. They'll buy one and share it among 50 other hipsters, the hipster way. Or maybe it will be like a cute bike for short, plump, leathered out chicks, that over the hill, bad B.O., perverted men can fawn over. Men who haven't wiffed a cooch in years. O, who am I kidding, women will not enter the lair of the sausage fest that is Harley.

Most of the Asain guys I know wouldn't be interested either. In fact, they ride some of the ballsiest bikes manufactured, bikes that I would be terrified to pilot. The bike comes off as a little stereo-typically racist to me actually, with the picture of the Asian dude in a Harley uniform. "A smaller, more mannered bike for the lil' Asian fellow." I wanna say to the Harley geezers, "Bro, that Asian guy will pass you at light speed on his ZX10r. Seriously, take your alzheimer's meds."

But seriously, when the hell were American machines NOT about performance? What happened to "America, fug yea!"?

F16, Mustang, ZR1, Viper... What red blood American male doesn't want to stomp down on the rest of the world with a flame spitting hyper performance chunk of metal on 2 wheels? WHAT THE CHRIST DID I MISS?

the for-sale-at-retail output of an industrial manufacturing concern listed on the NYSE

Greg seems really ignorant. Like, A LOT!

Also, the machines youve listed ARE very quick/fast, but you left out MANY MANY MANY American machines that are slow as balls
Why not mention the pinto?
Dodge dynasty?
I mean, those are American machines...yet their performance is, well, LACKING.

your point about girls never entering Harley - laughable.

seriously, ignorance.
