Hmmm, could this be the new Uly? Will the Elefant be sitting side by side with the beloved Uly in the future? Looks interesting if nothing else.

Before the release of the 2010 ULY:
IIRC erik said something like the ULY does not need any more power

Before the release of Helicon:
IIRC erik said you don't need a water cooled bike on the street.

Was Eric unaware of the 1125R and CR liquid cooled street bikes in the Buell lineup? I thought he was a very hands on guy in the design department, how did he miss that?

Oh, I'm fairly certain he's aware of them. Read the sentence - "don't *need* ... on the street". For my money, the aircooled family is just fine for street duty, from my '95 S2 to my '06 Uly.

I've spent a ton of time on the Loki bikes (much of it on a racetrack), and they are a TON of fun. I don't own one, though, because to be honest I get in enough trouble on my aircooled bikes. If I did more track days...I'd own a Loki. And I LOVE the CR - it looks like the new S1W to me.

"Need"? Or "want"? It's a fine distinction.

If you're talking about Erik, as in Erik Buell, there's a funny story. He was taking a nap under his desk when he was supposed to be at the meeting where all the important people were voting on weather to develop a liquid cooled engine or not. Since he slept thru the meeting, that left the others to debate the issue and vote.

Intensity built as the debates heated up. finally, it was time to vote. Here were the results--

Yes, lets build it--
Santa Clause
The Octo-mom
Jimmy Hoffa Sr

No, air cooled is where it's at--
Obama
The Janitor on "SCRUBS"
Brett Favre

As you can see, it was a tie. With Erik still napping, no one was sure what to do. Luckily, Bubb Rubb showed up and gave the deciding vote to go ahead with the helicon.

Here's a short get to know you video of the man that single handedly brought you the Helicon engine. As you'll soon see, once Erik woke up he knew that there was no way he could ever doubt the decision making of Bubb Rubb.
