I saw this new model and got the wheels to turning. My headlight suck compared other bikes I've had and friend bikes.

Might be a good fix.. yea I know my photo shop sucks : )

That Harley reminds me of a Honda Fat Cat. The dirt bike with ATV tires.

My gripes with the Fat Bob predecessor, the Street Bob, were Ape Hangers, Mid Controls, and the dinky 5.75" headlight.

HD stuck drag bars, forward controls, dual headlights and a bobtail fender on....me likey!

Local dealer has the demo fleet in 2 weeks. I'll see if it rides worth a darn.

looks like a speed triple that went off of it's diet and let itself go.

Either that or a wanna-be rocket 3. either way...

I think the best bike besides the new Nightster that has come out of the HD factory is the Street Bob. My problem with the street bob is that it has ape hangers and doesn't have a 21" front wheel. You have to machine the axle to even install a 21 incher.

What is up with forward controls? They are so popular, but they are ridiculous! It looks so ghey with dudes riding down the street with their feet sticking out like they are on a lounge chair. The San Francisco chapter of the Hells Angels (yeah, not the Wild Hog type of bikers we normally see these days) doesn't allow forward controls on their members' bikes due to the lack of control and ridiculous looks. I think they are cliche and totally uncool.

I would never buy a factory HD if I wanted a cruiser. For about 16 grand you can get one of these custom bobbers from a really awesome company. Yes, they will give you your choice of control position. Mine would be mid.

I think the Nightster is the best looking bike Harley has released in years. But after test riding one recently, you couldn't give me one. No lean angle, the seat is crap and the suspension is little more than an afterthought. Sorry, but the Nightster is all about looking good - not riding.

You got that right! I'll never understand the attraction. But, my Dyna Low Rider had both mid mount controls - and forward mounted "highway pegs". The forward mounts were nice for when you wanted to stretch out when cruising on the highway. But, in town, I never used them and kept them folded up. At the risk of being flamed, I think anyone who swears by forward mounted controls has no clue how a bike should handle.

I think anyone who can't corner a bike with forward controls doesn't know how to ride. (kind of an insulting broad generalization, isn't it?)

Could be that folks who like forward controls have a practical reason for it. Mid controls on the Street Bob always felt like they're in the way at every stoplight...kept catching my jeans on them.

They are so popular, but they are ridiculous!

To each his own. I think 200+ pound Buell riders guys spending $$$ on carbon fiber to lighten their bikes is ridiculous.

I see you were born in 1975. Wait till you're over 40 or so and get back to us.

Cool bike but I'd get about one mile on that brick of a seat and either my back would go out or I'd develop hemorrhoids.

Too funny. I'm guilty as charged but I did it for looks - not to lighten the bike.

H-D's styling department went to hell in a hand bag this year. They even managed to make all the sporters look ugly except the nightster. but the uglyest of the bikes besides the one here is the rocker c. I cant figure out how to get a picture of it cuz the HD site is a flash site. but it has a passager seat that sticks up in the air.

I predict Harley will have a hard time keeping up with production again this yr. They finally decided to make some bikes that doesn't look 50 yr old. I think the rocker c is as good as any OCC or any other custom out there for that matter. That Fat Bob aint bad either, it kinda reminds me of my friends Valkyrie, with that Fat front tire. I predict Harley to have a very profitable yr this yr.

The nightster is a nice start... I would have to monkey with it as I do with everything. Put 13 inch rear sport shocks on it, taller front fork springs to get some damn decent lean angle and ground clearance, add the other front brake rotor, twist the bars around and upside down, mount a set of Rear set controls to it from the XR1200, sprung solo seat, drip it in orange, and run the hell out of it . : D

Don't forget the proper Sportster 18 inch rear wheel!!!

I'm confused. How did we go from fitting Harley headlights on a Buell to Harley critiquing and a forward controls debate???

Teddagreek: Are you planning on trying to make this conversion?

It'll be interesting to see how much the parts cost. Has anyone actually seen these lights work to know if they're any more effective than the XB lights? It would be great if these were a functional upgrade.

I just found out over the weekend they are 350... Before discount..

For that price I can look at other options.

I'm not shocked by that price if you're buying them from a Harley dealer.

But you are right, there are probably better options for that kind of money.

From the "detour" of this thread, it sounds like you may be able to buy the "take offs" rather cheap on ebay in a month or so...

They look kinda funny on the HD, but I'm thinkin' they'll look sweet on the Buell, as long as they are close the same width/height.
