Hey fellow Buellers..Anyone else out there install the Stebel Compact Horn on their XB12S? I know Captainxb did an awesome job installing it and gave me great pics, but the compressor is a PITA since it must be vertical or 25 degrees from vertical for it to last. The horn install itself is not a problem..

I have a stebel Magnum and I'm not happy with it... I had the Nautilus but it didn't fit so I sold it to my friend.. I have another one on order after seeing how to separate the compressor from horn..

If I separate them I pretty sure I can shoe horn them both under the fly screen...

Jerseybuell, I too was concerned about the vertical requirement (according to the instructions) of the compressor when I installed mine horizontally.
But I wondered if the vertical installation had anything to do with how the bearings/shafts/etc would run inside, and possibly have more stress on one side when horizontal, leading to more wear.
But then I said Hey, what the heck, I don't use the horn all that much, and not for too long at any one time, so this won't be much of a problem to worry about.
If I get 20 years out of this one . . . then I'll be happy!

Thanks for the reply, guys..I think I have figured it out (amazing what a little beer can do for ya) and will post pics when I am done. I met one of the distributors and there is some sort of worm gear inside that doesn't like the horizontal position due to gravity or something ( I personally enjoy it : ) but that's another thread). You are right, Captainxb, It will probably last awhile mounted flat, but I am just a stickler for doing things by the book - a little anal, I am..
