2003 XB9R, 13k mi.

Okay I started the bike up this morning, mid 60 degree temps, let it run 5 min in the garage. I head out down the road, quarter mile down the road at the stop sign. I go to hit the throttle and the bike has a loss of power and a hickup sound comes out from the throttle body area.

What is the cause of this? Anyone else experienced this before. It has happened a time or two before.

my '04 12R has done this intermittently for almost 3 years now. Early on, I had my throttle body and intake manifold replaced under warranty. At least now when it coughs, it doesn't stall.

I attribute it to rolling on the throttle too fast, or when somebody feels like blipping my throttle while the bike is idling.

Seems like if I gently bring the rpm up to 1500 before I really give it the juice, it never happens. Only when I grab a handful from idle speed.
