I dropped my bike today going about 2mph. Thank god for the frame pucks i put on yesterday. Anyways, the only damage that occurred was two broken pegs. now i need to figure out how to replace them. please tell me how. | ||

Sorry about the bike, but removing them is no biggie. All you need to do is the following... rider pegs: remove the E-clip on the bottom of the pivot rod using needle nose pliers, and carefully wiggle out the pivot rod while holding/moving the peg to reduce the pressure the spring is putting on the pivot. To put in the new ones just double check the other side as to how the spring is placed and line everything up and slide in the pivot rod. This part may be a little tricky because you have to hold the spring while compressing it with the peg and sliding in the pivot rod. Passenger: Just like with the front remove the E-clip and carefully slide out the pivot rod, this time it should come out easier as there is no spring to work against you. DO NOT just pull the passenger peg off right away. Make sure you have either a towel or a bag around the assembly before you pull it off. This is because the rear pegs have a locking mechanism which is spring loaded, and has a ball bearing. So when you pull it out the ball will be poped out and the towel/bag will catch it. And to put it back in just put the spring and ball into the hole in the new peg, and put the little plate in the mount. Then carefully compress the spring and slide the rear peg in, after making sure that everything is lined up slide the pivot rod back in and replace the E-clip. Hope this helps. | ||

yes, it helps. it took me about 30-40 minutes to get that rider peg back on. that spring is a bugger. i took off whats left of the back peg and have not put it on, but figured it ws just about what you said. thanks for taking the time to respond. james |
